Bicycle Happiness ICMBC rider Leon Moonbear (age 14) levels up to ride Varsity for the Iowa Scholastic Mountain Bike League series.
First race was wet and raining so the course was changed to include pavement.
Leon stayed with the main pack and finished second to last while his faster teammate secured first easily by taking advantage of the downhill slippery pavement.
Next four races will be interesting to see how Leon improves.
Leon was the JV state champion in 2025 and the Middle School state champion in 2024.. he is sponsored by Bicycle Happiness and races for the Iowa City Mountain Bike club.

Another week, another Friday night Gatos ride. Meet ya at the BL at 6pm. If you wanted a break from last week's hills, this will be a flatter 10 mile cruise out to Saddlebrook Marsh. Maybe bring a snack to share, I hear there might be a mid-ride picnic stop.

Bike trip to local farm!!

Women/Trans/Femme folks are invited to the 2026 bikepacking overnight to Lucky Star Farm, a working agrofarm with goats, ducks, and llamas. Get your bike, panniers, and gear ready at the Bike Library. Friendly help will be available to answer questions at W/T/F nights (Tuesday 6-8 PM) in May.

Wed - Feb 11th 7am-10am at the State Capitol.

Join riders, advocates, and community leaders from across the state for **Iowa Bicycle Day at the Capitol**. We’ll gather at the Capitol to share stories, build relationships, and advocate for safer streets, better trails, and smarter transportation choices for all Iowans.

You don’t need to be a policy expert.
You just need to show up.
Yes, it is a work day, but this nonprofit event may be eligible for volunteer hours through your workplace - check with your employer.

Every rider matters. Every voice counts.
Let’s make Iowa better for biking - together.
