FOR THOSE WHO ARE INTERESTED, I JUST SAW THIS
Dear New York State 2nd Amendment Supporters,
I am writing to reaffirm my firm commitment to protecting one of our most fundamental
constitutional rights. When elected Governor of the State of New York, my administration will
issue an Executive Order establishing and activating a New York Constitutional Enforcement
Task Group to vigorously defend the rights of law-abiding New Yorkers.
The Second Amendment to the United States Constitution, as well as the New York Civil
Rights Law article II, § 4, safeguard an individual right that must be treated with the same force
and respect as every other constitutional guarantee. In recent years, that right has too often been
burdened by unconstitutional statutes, overbroad regulations, and enforcement practices
inconsistent with Supreme Court precedent. Under my administration, that approach will change.
The New York Constitutional Enforcement Task Group will take immediate and decisive action,
including:
• Reviewing existing New York statutes, regulations, and enforcement policies to ensure
compliance with United States Supreme Court decisions, including District of Columbia
v. Heller, McDonald v. City of Chicago, and New York State Rifle & Pistol Association v.
Bruen;
• Directing state agencies to align enforcement practices with constitutional requirements;
• Recommending legislative and regulatory reforms to restore constitutional compliance;
• Coordinating with outside counsel and allied organizations, when appropriate, to advance
and defend these objectives.
This will not be a symbolic effort. It will be structured, deliberate, and results driven. You
may rely on this commitment as a guarantee of immediate executive action when I am elected
Governor. Additional information regarding this matter will be forthcoming. We encourage you
to stay engaged as we continue this important effort together.
