After navigating a turbulent 2025 season that included a blockbuster trade from New York to Indianapolis and nagging injuries, Gardner proved he remains one of the premier DBs in football. He posted a 75.6 PFF coverage grade while setting a career-high 84.5 PFF run-defense grade (4th among qualified CBs).

Fully healthy heading into 2026, Gardner provides the Indianapolis Colts with a legitimate shutdown weapon to transform their defense. 💙🐴

The Indianapolis Colts enter 2026 hoping to turn last season's promising stretches into something more consistent.

Indianapolis showed signs of becoming a playoff contender in 2025, but injuries helped derail that momentum and the Colts eventually finished 8-9. Now, they enter a new season looking to stay healthy and get back into the postseason picture.

The defense will play a major role in that pursuit, although many of the players who led the unit in tackles last year are no longer in Indianapolis.

Here were the Colts' total tackles leaders during the 2025 season:

💙 Zaire Franklin — 125 tackles (62 solo)
🤍 Nick Cross — 120 tackles (72 solo)
💙 Germaine Pratt — 101 tackles (57 solo)
🤍 Cam Bynum — 81 tackles (50 solo)
💙 Mekhi Blackmon — 64 tackles (50 solo)
🤍 Kenny Moore — 55 tackles (34 solo)
💙 Grover Stewart — 55 tackles (23 solo)
🤍 DeForest Buckner — 47 tackles (30 solo)
💙 Laiatu Latu — 45 tackles (27 solo)

Zaire Franklin led Indianapolis with 125 total tackles, while Nick Cross finished close behind with 120 and led this group with 72 solo stops. Germaine Pratt also surpassed the 100-tackle mark.

But all three are now gone from the current roster. Franklin was traded, Cross departed in free agency and Pratt remains a free agent. Kenny Moore was released and Mekhi Blackmon was waived, meaning five of last season's six leading tacklers are no longer with the team.

That leaves Cam Bynum as an important returning piece, alongside established names like DeForest Buckner, Grover Stewart and Laiatu Latu as Indianapolis moves forward with a reshaped defense.
