With the final JV/Varsity awards wrapping up the SCTP State Trap Championship today, we couldn't be more proud of what our athletes accomplished this week in Cedar Falls.
WCSS athletes rose to the occasion. We celebrated personal bests, 25 straights, 50 straights, shoot-off appearances, league championships, and countless moments of growth throughout the week.
One of the accomplishments we're most proud of is that WCSS athletes earned podium finishes in every discipline contested during State Trap Championship week. From Singles to Handicap to Doubles, our athletes continued to prove that WCSS is building something special and making a name for itself across the state.
A special congratulations to Jayce Dykstra, who shot an impressive 198/200 in the Varsity Championship division, earning a spot in a five-way shoot-off tied for 3rd place overall. After a hard-fought shoot-off, Jayce finished 7th overall. He also earned 1st Place Varsity League Singles and capped off the day by winning the All-State Captain Shoot-Off and HOA.
Beyond the scores and awards, what stands out most is the way this team continues to grow. Every athlete who stepped on the line this week represented WCSS with determination, resilience, and sportsmanship while competing against some of the best shooters in the state.
Thank you to our coaches, families, volunteers, board members, and sponsors who make opportunities like this possible. The success of this program is a direct reflection of the incredible support behind these athletes.
As we pack up camp and head home, we're bringing back more than medals and trophies. We're bringing back memories, confidence, personal bests, and plenty of momentum for the next competition.
We couldn't be more proud of this group.
