Recovery from neurologic injury is incredibly slow. Even the most incomplete SCI may take months or years of rehabilitation.

- Insurance does not provide a continuum of care. The injured are often discharged from rehabilitation hospitals weeks after injury, during the critical time they need therapy the most.

- Outpatient visits are few and far between. Recovery requires regular, repetitive acce

ss to therapy in order to promote neuroplasticity (the nervous system's attempt to re-wire after injury). The limited number of outpatient therapy visits provided by insurance are insufficient.

- Disabled individuals living with paralysis in Indiana are deprived of the resources they need for health and well-being (to improve circulation, muscle and bone density, pressure sores, and more). NeuroHope vision will provide the resources to maximize recovery for the recently injured, and offer specialized wellness programs for those already living with paralysis.

Sebastian is one year out from an incomplete L5 injury, and has been putting in the WORK on his recovery journey. His “missing piece” now are his calf muscles. The team uses some good ingenuity with Restorative Therapies’ XCite to stimulate plantar flexion in jumping and smoothing out his gait.

Meet COOPER! The newest addition to the NeuroHope team! Cooper is a recently graduated ICAN Facility dog, who has been training his entire 2.5 year life to assist people with disabilities and deliver 1,000+ smiles per day (minimum).

Cooper is uniquely trained to work with three of our clinicians: OT Krista Kaufman, PTA Marshall Sparenberg, and Neuro Exercise Specialist Cole Cooper (no relation 😆) to assist with therapeutic sessions for appropriate clients.

1. A trained game of “tug” with controlled pressure, with client Chris who has left arm paralysis. Working on grip and isometric strength as OT Krista monitors shoulder stabilization.

2. Cole works with client Rachel with controlled pace walking, as she practices steady steps and works toward walking her own dog again.

We are thrilled to add “Super” Cooper to the clinic. Be on the lookout for tail wags and wiggles in the gym!

Montage of Jacob Evans’ progress over the last year! From assisted steps and treadmill training to PICKLEBALL! Now he’s off to college in a few weeks!

Jacob will be the GRAND MARSHAL of our 9th Annual “Swing Fore Hope” Golf scramble presented by Rehab Medical on September 14 where golfers can hear his inspiring story. 💪💪

Neurologic injuries take months , and sometimes years to maximize recovery. The unique access we provide for people like Jacob, coupled with the resilience and attitude that our amazing clients showcase every day - exemplifies why we do what we do.

We’re honored to be a part of his journey, and can’t wait to see his next chapter.
