A picture from the 2018 Boston Marathon because it’s Marathon Monday!!

A little over a year ago I started having some bilateral high hamstring pain. I just ignored it because I could still run without much pain at all. Last summer I went to a PT and she said it was a nerve thing. Deep down I knew it was not that and thinking high hamstring tendinopathy with all research I did. I was able to train for a 2022 fall marathon. I had pain with speed work, hills and long runs. But not enough to hold me back. This year it just continued to get worse. I stopped speed work/hills and was unable to run past 8 miles. I FINALLY went to a sports med doctor to get a diagnosis even though I knew what I had but wanted a professional to tell me. Dx: Chronic bilateral high hamstring teninopathy. I’m now on a mission to heal this long, bitch of an injury. PT exercises, strength training, running every other day and elliptical the other days per doctors orders. Tendons like to be loaded, as long as I keep the pain no more than 3/10. I was unable to run faster than 9:30 pace before it would flare up. This past Saturday I was able to run 13 miles and even picked up the pace to 8 min miles only experiencing pain 1/10 the whole run! This is going to be a long road to overcome this. I will be 44 next week and with the length of this injury I feel like my faster days are behind me.😏 The doctor said if if do all the work, I could prob run a fall marathon!

On a positive note….Congratulations to all everyone running the Boston Marathon!! Enjoy it!

I’m going to TRY to train for a spring marathon. I’ve only ran two spring marathons and my last one was Boston 2018. I feel like injuries always pop up in the winter or mentally I just don’t want to train during the winter months. My dedication/motivation takes a nose dive. Plus my hamstrings have been achy for over a year now which doesn’t help the motivation. They feel the best they’ve felt in a long time though!🤞I did an 11 mile workout on the treadmill this morning and felt pretty good! I have a lot of work to do to build back fitness🥵Can’t wait to get back to the training grind!

Indianapolis Monumental Marathon 3:14:57.
I trained for 20 weeks with the LRP sub 3 team. I got covid in July which set me back a month. Going into this race I knew I wasn’t fit enough to go sub 3 but had the goal for 3:03-3:05. I really just wanted to beat my last two Indy times of 3:07. With the weather being awful, 20-30 mph winds with 40-50 mph wind gust, my goal changed to do what I could and finish. When I crossed the finish line I was actually so stinking proud of myself when normally I would be upset for running this time. I cried tears of happiness and not tears of sadness. This marathon was a TEAM race and not an individual race. If I didn’t have there by my side to work with, I would have mentally gave up. We worked together! Seeing other teammates out there just gave off this amazing energy! I never once felt alone.
Big thanks to for selecting me to be on a team with badass women! And thanks to my hubby Randy for his awesome cheering and support.
Much love❤️❤️❤️

I like to do a tune-up half marathon before a marathon to help gauge where my fitness is. Sometimes it’s pretty spot on to how fast I run a marathon. I’m hoping last Saturday I was just having a bad day😏 I haven’t been feeling like myself since getting Covid in July so this training cycle has definitely had its ups and downs….like most do. Putting this one behind me and focusing on Indy!

Bellin Women’s Half. Wasn’t my day. Slowest time at the Bell-in half. If it wasn’t for my family there cheering me on I probably would of given up. But I kept going for them❤️ I still love this race!

7 weeks out from Indy. I had an awesome week of training! 10x 800m on Tuesday, 6x10 min at MP on Friday(14.5 miles), Randy biked with me, followed by 15 miles easy on Saturday. My legs definitely felt those back to back days. Enjoying my rest day today for sure! I’m feeling more like myself again post covid. It took a good 6 weeks to feel like I can actually breathe normally again.😮‍💨 Hopeful to continue trending upwards and building back fitness.

Here’s to a fresh start! First run after taking 9 days off running to rest my body before starting up a new training cycle that started this week for project breaking 3 at the Indianapolis Monumental marathon. It felt good to take a break even though I didn’t train for a spring race and have been basically just running easy with 1-2 small workouts a month and “lower” mileage. But I needed it! My body was still going through stress. Super excited to train again! My mind is finally in a good spot after a long winter of struggling with my mental health. I feel super out of shape right now, but looking forward to watching my growth as a runner and hopefully get some endurance and speed back😜
My legs must have been feeling fresh because my overall easy pace was 9:19 and it’s usually slower than that around 9:30-10:00 pace😆

No better way to cure a hangover than a 12 mile(10:02 pace) run in the cold. 🥶 Last year on this day I was unable to run because of injury. Looking at my total yearly mileage for the past two years is extremely different.
2020 I ran 3,330 miles. 2021 I ran 2,300 miles because of my injury. Hoping to stay healthy this year and get close to that 3,000 miles mark. 🙏 Cheers to 2022🥂
