I wanted to give a shout out to the NHS Dance team. These girls competed in a National Dance competition last week. They danced on stage against the best teams throughout our entire country and went up against teams of 25-30 girls. Just winning the chance to compete is a huge achievement and I couldn’t be more proud to have been a part of their journey. Our dance team started last year with 4 girls performing TikTok dances during a basketball game to them being on stage at Nationals, and televised around the country. They met on weekends and evenings so they could still participate in other school activities. They stepped out of their comfort zones and worked with Ms. Gracie during their vacations to learn new styles of dance and they never gave up and always had a smile on their face. They haven’t gotten a lot of acknowledgment like a lot of other teams do when they compete so if you see them around, please congratulate them. It wasn’t easy for them to hear that many of their peers were saying negative comments about them going while they were in Florida but they didn’t let it affect their performance. They often downplayed getting a bid to go and may have not placed but just getting there and being 1 of 20 teams in their division throughout the United States that earned a spot on that stage was an immense achievement and something they should always be proud of. It was an amazing experience and a huge opportunity for them and for me as their coach. They went out there and showed everyone what it means to to be a Needles Mustang!
