Internship Spots Available!

Spots open starting October 1 for a three month internship learning horsemanship, cow working and ranch roping from Bill Barnes at Stoney Creek Ranch.

Bill has over 20 years of experience riding and learning from Buck Brannaman. He spent 15 years ranching in the Sandhills of Nebraska and has owned and operated a cow/calf operation here in Georgia for the past 22 years. Bill enjoys passing on the knowledge he has gained to the next generation.

If you want a job on a big ranch but don’t have the experience, we offer the opportunity to gain that experience and begin developing the skills necessary. Want to make some real headway towards becoming a horseman? Stoney Creek Ranch offers a three month internship for individuals wanting to do just that.

The goal of this internship is to teach classical horsemanship in a real life environment. By placing the individual in situations that cause meaningful questions, one can begin to grow. Working under Bill Barnes you’ll experience different aspects of horsemanship, from c**t starting to more refined work and a lot of time focused on the fundamentals. You’ll learn how to rope, and have the opportunity to hone your skills. You will be exposed to working cattle on a daily basis, learning what to look for and how to doctor livestock.

Beginning Friday at 1:00, ending Sunday at 12:00 noon.
Topics covered will be “Horsemanship You Need to Work a Cow and Roping”!
Come ride with Bill and learn how to work a cow, rope a cow,and handle it after catching. Bill has had vast experience on his ranch in Nebraska in the Sandhills and his Ranch in Georgia.
Bill has been mentored by Buck Brannaman for over 22 years and enjoys helping others achieve their goals.
The cost for the weekend is $600. A $300 deposit will hold your place.

If you’ve ever wanted a job on a big ranch as a top hand but don’t have the skills, we offer the opportunity to gain experience and those skills.

Housing is provided and duties on the ranch involve working under the direction of our ranch manager performing tasks like operating equipment, maintaining fences and caring for livestock. You’ll have the opportunity to be on horseback every day.
