Awesome! Our girls may remember meeting Kelly at a Pride game a few years ago. Scorp legend!

15 years ago Kelly came to USSSA's CEO and said "I want to be on a women's professional fastpitch team" and 15 years later we are honored to announce that Kelly Kretschman will be our head coach heading into this season. 🥎 An absolute beast on the field and a legend to the game.

Welcome home, Kelly! 💙❤️

BREVARD SPORTS NETWORK: SATELLITE SCORPIONS SOFTBALL PROGRAM HIRE TWO OF THE SPORTS BEST TO COACH THE PROGRAM, INCLUDING ONE OF THEIR OWN: THREE TIME STATE CHAMP TOM FADUL & FORMER SCORP & FSU SEMINOLE SPORTS HALL OF FAMER, LISA DAVIDSON:

Brevard County has become a hotbed for softball talent. From the north to the south part of the county, arguably, no other local high school sport fields the level of talent that many area softball teams do.

Two Brevard teams reached the FHSAA Final Four this year and the reality of it is one of those two teams knocked off the county’s best team to reach that point.

With teams like Melbourne, Viera, Bayside, Rockledge, Cocoa, Titusville and other’s thriving, the Satellite Scorpions got serious in their quest to join them as they hired Tom Fadul to be the head coach and Lisa Davidson to be the assistant.

All coach Fadul has done in his softball coaching career is win three state championships at Pembroke Pines Charter in 2012, 2014 and then in 2018.

Fadul, who has coached the program since its inaugural season in 2001 until he left following the 2019 season won over 400 games and brings a winning percentage of .795 to Satellite High.

Fadul was named 7A Coach of the year in 2018 and including his three state titles, coach Fadul’s teams have also reached a total of eight Final Fours with four state runnerup finishes.

In 2008, Coach Fadul’s PPC team traveled to California for the prestigious Faster To First high school tournament and beat five nationally ranked teams to claim the title.

Last season Fadul assisted with the Merritt Island Christian softball program.

As if hiring coach Fadul wasn’t a big enough coup for the Scorps softball program, Athletic Director TJ Gaudy and Principal Bobby Pruett turned to one of their own to be an assistant coach in former Satellite great and Florida State Seminoles Hall of Famer, Lisa Davidson.

Davidson was a softball machine at Satellite in the late 1980’s and then went on to become one of the best ever to lace up a pair of cleats on the softball field in Tallahassee for the Seminoles and in the ACC.

She led Satellite to a state title in slow pitch but learned the fast pitch game quickly and helped lead FSU to four straight ACC titles.

Also at FSU, Davidson became only the second Seminoles softball player to be named an All-American.

In 2003, Davidson was selected to the ACC 50th Anniversary team for softball and in 2005, she was inducted into the FSU Hall of Fame.

Satellite was 2-20 last season and are 15-83 over the past five seasons and had back to back winning seasons since 2011 and 2012.

“I got lucky, very lucky. These are two of the most impressive resumes you will find in any sport to coach and lead your program,” Satellite Athletic Director TJ Gaudy said in a message to BSN.

You’ll hear from coach Fadul tomorrow at 2:00 pm live on BSN and Coach Davidson will speak with us next week when she returns from vacation.

Congratulations coaches and Satellite.
