To the residents of Alexandria…

We are sorry to announce that we will NOT be opening the pickleball courts for yet another two months. Upon review of the finalized courts, city officials noticed several depressions on the northern court. These depressions were significant enough that safety of players would be in question. Our contractor has admitted the error and will be working to correct the issue free of charge to the city. This work will involve milling out the play area, laying new asphalt, and applying new paint. Work will be beginning the week of July 21st.

We know this is very disappointing news for those who had been interested in playing on the new courts, but we thank you for your patience.

Coming to Pioneer Park

Calling all pickleball lovers! 🎉🎉 Kenton County Parks & Recreation is adding FOUR new courts to Pioneer Park.

On Aug. 13, the Kenton County Fiscal Court approved a bid by Riegler Blacktop to redesign the tennis courts at Pioneer Park in Covington to include multiple pickleball courts. As part of the contract, Riegler will also renovate the park’s basketball courts and replace all fencing around the facility.

Pickleball continues to be the fastest growing sport in America, which is interesting considering the sport was invented on accident by a trio of dads trying to entertain their kids.

If you haven't picked up the paddle yet, here are a few reasons why pickleball is a favorite for people of all ages:

🏓 Small court size: A pickleball court is significantly smaller than a tennis court, making it less physically demanding and more accessible to people of all ages.
🏓 Unique ball design: Pickleballs are similar to wiffle balls, and going paddle to ball feels more like ping pong than it does tennis. This design makes it easier to control where your shot will land.
🏓 Social and community-oriented: Pickleball's growing popularity has led to the formation of numerous local leagues, clubs and social groups. It’s a great way to meet new people and stay active within your community.
