Important Announcement from IDS

Due to current geopolitical circumstances and ongoing travel advisories, Integrative Defense Strategies has made the decision to cancel the 2026 Fight IQ for CCW Conference, originally scheduled for September 18–20.

The safety and well-being of our affiliates, students, and community will always be our highest priority. Based on information from reliable intelligence sources, we believe it is prudent to exercise additional caution during the months leading up to the 2026 midterm election cycle.

This decision was not made lightly. We had assembled what was shaping up to be a truly world-class lineup of instructors and presentations, and we were very much looking forward to bringing everyone together for another exceptional event.

However, our mission remains unchanged. IDS will continue advancing the science and practice of personal protection, and once conditions stabilize we fully intend to resume the Fight IQ conference series and the community it brings together.

We appreciate your understanding and continued support, and we look forward to training with all of you again as soon as possible.

IDS APEX Level 2 Instructor Certification — Oshkosh, WI with Todd Fossey

February 26th – March 1st

Hosted by Impact Martial Arts

This is an instructor-level immersion into how people actually perform inside chaotic, close-range violence — and how to coach it effectively.

The IDS APEX system integrates motor learning science, force science, decision-making, and combatives so the firearm becomes part of a complete fighting skillset.

Over four days candidates will work through the advanced instructor curriculum, including:

• Applied Motor Learning, Force Science, and Use-of-Force decision making

• Advanced Pistolcraft against multiple and moving threats

• Advanced combatives for concealed carry

• IDS APEX Advanced Weapon Retention Algorithm

• IDS APEX Advanced Clinch Fighting for Concealed Carry Algorithm

• IDS APEX Advanced Grappling for Concealed Carry Algorithm

• IDS APEX Defending in Confined-spaces Defense and Wall Work Algorithm

This course is designed for serious practitioners, coaches, and professionals who want to teach beyond the static range and build training that holds up under pressure, contact, and uncertainty.

Applied Grappling Systems: Sport vs. Combat Applications

On February 25th at Impact Martial Arts

This seminar is not a technique seminar.

It’s a decision-making seminar.

We will examine how rule sets quietly program behavior, how competitive incentives shape reactions, and why certain reflexes that are rewarded in sport can create serious problems in real confrontations.

You’ll learn where sport grappling transfers cleanly, where it breaks down, and what must change when the objective shifts from scoring points to self-defense and/or controlling a human being safely and legally.

Topics include: • How rule structures condition automatic behavior

• Identifying transferable versus non-transferable habits

• When adaptation becomes mandatory, not optional

• Submission-oriented thinking vs. restraint and positional control

• Decision-making when speed, uncertainty, and risk collide

This is grappling examined through consequence.

Date: February 25, 2026

Time: 6:00–8:00 PM

Location: Impact Martial Arts
2325 WI-44, Oshkosh, WI 54904

Cost: $60

Taught by Todd Fossey, Founder of IDS APEX.

If your grappling has only existed inside a rule set, this seminar will change how you evaluate risk, control, and responsibility.

Train with context.
Train with intent.
Train for survival.

Applied Grappling Systems: Sport vs. Combat Applications

On February 25th at Impact Martial Arts, we’ll break down the critical differences between sport-driven grappling habits and combat-relevant grappling decisions—and why confusing the two can create dangerous blind spots under stress.

This seminar isn’t about collecting techniques.

It’s about understanding context, building control, and prioritizing survival.

We’ll examine how rule sets shape behavior, when sport techniques transfer effectively, and when they fail.

You’ll learn how and why adaptations are required when the objective shifts from winning to staying alive and out of jail.

Key areas of focus include:
How rule sets hard-wire habits—for better or worse

When sport techniques transfer to real-world application

When adaptation becomes non-negotiable

Submissions versus restraint and control

Decision-making under stress when time, clarity, and safety collapse

This is applied grappling through the lens of real consequences, not competitive abstraction.

Date: February 25, 2026

Time: 6:00–8:00 PM

Location: Impact Martial Arts
2325 WI-44, Oshkosh, WI 54904

Cost: $60

Taught by Todd Fossey, Founder of IDS APEX

If your grappling lives exclusively inside a sport rule set, this seminar will upgrade your decision-making.

Train for control.
Train for survival.

Book Update

The screenshot below is just one small example of the delays and obstacles I’ve faced bringing this book into the world.

When you challenge entrenched narratives—especially in an industry that’s comfortable with tradition over truth—resistance isn’t a surprise. It’s part of the process.
This isn’t a setback. It’s just a waypoint.

I’ve since landed with a very solid publishing partner, and production is officially back in motion. The work continues—without compromise.

I’m deeply grateful for the support, patience, and encouragement many of you have shown along the way. This project is bigger than me—and bigger than comfort.

More updates soon.

True Citizen Defenders are the T-cells of society.

Their identity is rooted in service, discernment, and protection of the whole. When that identity is authentic, their role is inherently reciprocal—self-directed toward the health and survival of the larger system.

But when that identity becomes corrupted, it turns parasitic.

Healthy cells understand their purpose and their limits. When their function is complete or their integrity is compromised, they undergo programmed death—apoptosis—for the good of the body.

Corrupted cells do the opposite. They disguise themselves as healthy, evade regulation, and refuse to die. Feeding only themselves, they multiply unchecked—ultimately threatening the very system they pretend to serve.

No noise. No ammo. No range. No excuses.

Just a way to keep reps alive when life is busy—so skills don’t quietly decay while you’re distracted by everything else December throws at you.

I’ve said this for years: competence isn’t built in big, dramatic moments. It’s built in small, repeatable decisions made consistently over time. Ten minutes here. A few reps there. Low friction. High return.

If you’re already dry firing, this simply makes it more honest and more transferable. If you haven’t been dry firing, this lowers the barrier enough that most people actually follow through.
No hype. No pressure. Just a solid tool that does what it’s supposed to do.

If it makes sense for you, the affiliate link is in the description.
Train smart.
