Last but not least, the man behind the stories, Croatian Eagle Luka Gobec. Luka is our youngest team member but since his freshman year he has been stepping up to take responsibilities whenever needed.

Before Luka came to SNC he was a part of multiple ski teams, but always had a dream of skiing for a college ski team in the US. Thanks to SNC, his dream became a realty.

Even thought Luka is busy finishing his double major, tutoring at school and being involved in other school activities, he always jumps in to help his teammates with their problems whether its about school, tuning skis or problems with a car.

During the school year Luka’s priorities are school and skiing and his second home is the library. But once the summer starts, he changes his speed suit and dress shirts into shorts and flip flops and enjoys his time on the Croatian coast.

Big thank you to Elias Stürz! Elias graduated in December 2017, took the coaching role for this season, and lead us all the way to Nationals at Lake Placid, NY. in March this year.

At the beginning of the year, he had to learn how to become a coach from being a teammate. It wasn't easy but through teamwork with us, he solved that task successfully and pulled out an amazing season for all of us. Thanks to this guy's hard work and tenacity we gave our best at every practice no matter how bad conditions or weather were sometimes. Supportive and committed coach but more important, a really good friend and teammate. He kept this team running and we are all really thankful to have him as a friend, teammate, and a coach.

One more Swedish fellow Eagle of ours is Emma Stenvall majoring in psychology!

Emma never goes anywhere without her camera and has a great eye for taking photos. Many skiers in the team can thank her for awesome photos she took from all of us. Unfortunately, Emma will not stay with us following years. However, she did make a promise that she’ll come back to visit us and we are definitely counting on that. Emma, your fellow Eagles wish you the best of luck and we hope that whatever you aspire comes true!

From Vail, Colorado, an Eagle in our rows is Erika Mccormick! Erika is a junior, majoring in psychology.

She just shines her positivity all the time, and is the biggest fan of our team in the world. There is a legend circling that when you’re standing at the start, you can hear her cheering from the finish line. It is quite fascinating that this legend applies to her since her nickname is “the little one”. She plays an important role in the team and we cannot be more fortunate to have her as our awesome ski buddy as well as a great person who never misses a chance to make you feel good to be an Eagle!

After a tough slalom race yesterday our girls managed to take 3rd place in Nationals Championship Slalom🥉
