IM Monterrey recap! Swim was in a manmade river that was pretty clean and point to point. I didn’t have to sight much which was nice and I could see Randy following me the entire swim 😁. Swim time 42:52, a three min improvement over Morro Bay last year. My bike felt awesome! The course was mostly on a closed highway with the beginning, middle and end on some cobblestone roads. Bike time was 2:47 and a great improvement over last year’s 3:13. Finally, the run which has never been my strong leg. I have actually been working very hard on improving my run speeds but it did not show up during this race. Run was 2:17 which was a little better than last year but I know I can do better. Ultimately, finished the race in 5:55, under 6 hours and placed 4th in my age group. Only two minutes separated 2nd, 3rd, and 4th. The icing on the cake is that I got the 2nd roll down slot to World Champioships in Taupo New Zealand in December 2024!! Thanks to my coach Shawna Zaharko for always pushing me to be my best. And thanks to my husband Randy for being my Sherpa and cheering me on throughout the race!
