Is it really the end?
It’s a question that I got from a lot of people.
It seems like when things end , a career, a business, a marriage, any relationship and life, there’s always this sadness and uncertainty to what will happen next.
I always thought of it that when things ended, there’s a new opportunity that will show up.
Death will follow with new life.
Ending something is not really the end. It’s the beginning of something.
Three years ago when Paul Fisher (owner and creator of Fitness World) passed away .
I came in to the gym and I thought to myself that we should just give this gym up. There’s no way this will survive. I look at the books and the gym is in debts and not making enough to survive. Employees are doing what they want to do. Some employees are just showing up to basically just get a check, and terminated employees that stealing money from the gym. Tenant that doesn’t pay rent and it took a while to get rid off. Members complain about everything from the previous management , owner , from their low monthly dues payment ($10) . No structure at all.
It took a while to clean everything up and have the gym function better and get back on our feet a little bit and catch up with the bills.
Then the COVID-19 hit us and clise us down to stop the spread the virus, people starts to cancel, business is not operating in its full potential due to the restrictions. We try to keep the gym open for members as much as we can.
So grateful to have a new set of crew that help and really care about the gym and the community,some members that are willing to do whatever it takes to help us out , some of the trainers and my son Dylan that works long hours almost everyday , moving equipment out the parking lot every weekend so we can accommodate the church for their Sunday service out in the parking lot , just to keep the gym open for members and pay our staff even the fact that we are not making enough to cover our expenses.
COVID is a huge interruption in improving the business. It create a huge negative impact financially.
It’s been a wild 3 years. There’s a lot of worries , disappointments, sleepless night, fighting for something with uncertainty of whether if this is worth fighting for or not.
Fitness World started in 1984 and eventually start to disappear one gym at a time , Every gym and closure has its own story .
This experience took a place of knowing who really cares about humanity, opportunist , and those that just push you down , kicks you after seeing you falling down on your knees and continue to kick you while hurting and will not stop until you’re no longer breathing.
Noticed that angry people, because they don’t get what they want , they will always say something to defend themselves and blame someone else for their own failure. The sad part is , those one that we thought that will be there and support us are the one the pack their stuff first, walk away and stab us in the back due to personal agenda.
I also discover that there are also good , caring , loving , compassionate , grateful and loyal people that will stay next to your side and fight with you however things look like. I appreciate all of my experience.
Now we are putting the Fitness World to rest for a while . It serves its purpose and I am confident that in a right time we can rebirth and start a new Fitness World where we can start fresh without cleaning a mess.
We are happy to announce that Ultimate Fitness will continue serving the IB community and Dylan will be a big part of it. I am trusting that everything will be okay and members and staff will remain caring and loving as they are now.
I am so grateful to serve the IB community. I enjoy and cherish the experience , the knowledge/wisdom I gain in this journey. I love all of you and wish everyone good luck.
I am looking forward to what I can do next. I request the community to continuously support Dylan and Ultimate Fitness in anyway you can.
This is not the end , It’s a beginning of something new, new journey in life that is unknown and so excited to discover.
