Don't miss your chance to complete our survey! Two days left to share your thoughts on Ilwaco's parks and open spaces!

The City of Ilwaco is collecting information to develop a Parks, Recreation, and Open Space (PROS) Element for inclusion in the Comprehensive Plan periodic update. The purpose of the PROS Element is to provide guidance on the city’s management and development of park properties for the next 6 – 20 years. This survey, along with community meetings and input from the Parks and Recreation Commission, will gather local knowledge and opinions to be integrated into the PROS Element. The result will be a prioritized list of possible park, trail, and natural area projects. It will also make Ilwaco eligible for state grants to help fund these projects.

The City is requesting your input to ensure that the needs of Ilwaco’s community are met. This survey will help us understand how you currently use Ilwaco’s park and trail systems and help us plan for the future. The survey will be open until August 7, 2026, via the link below:

Black Lake in Pacific County of one of over 100 lakes statewide that are part of the WDFW Trout Derby. This small lake is located near Illwaco and offers a primitive launch located on the northeast side of the lake, and limited shore access along Highway 101. As of today, 5 prizes are still waiting to be claimed here! (https://wdfw.wa.gov/fishing/locations/lowland-lakes/black-lake-pacific)

Over 900 prizes are available statewide! You can find a participating lake near you on our derby lakes webpage (https://wdfw.wa.gov/fishing/contests/trout-derby/lakes) and more about the trout derby at wdfwderby.com.

Open to anyone with a valid fishing license (children under 16 fish for free). There is no entry fee or registration required. Just catch a tagged trout anytime between now and Oct. 31, and you win!

If anyone picked up left behind fishing poles after the derby, please bring them to Ilwaco City Hall. I have two requests for missing poles and "pink" seems to be the theme!

On Monday, April 20th the city will be closing the public docks from use until the derby begins on Saturday the 25th. Please respect the signs and let the fish acclimate so that our children can enjoy an opportunity to catch "the big one"!
