Our Belief
UDS believes that introducing and enriching your child in dance is a wonderful gift that will last a life time! Dance teaches poise, body alignment, promotes good posture, healthy habits, musical awareness, and develops rhythm and coordination. Dance increases strength, flexibility and exercises cognitive abilities. Involvement in the many forms of dance allows the student to explore movement, music, and creative expressions as they learn to dance in a structured and positive environment. Dance is an athletic art form that sharpens the student mentally, physically and artistically. Our dancers of all ages and levels share one common factor, they love dancing at UDS.

ONE LAST TIME FOR STARGAZING 🌟

What an incredible way to retire this very special piece! 💙

Last night, our tap group Stargazing, choreographed by the amazing Mark Orsborn, took the stage at the DC Tap Festival All-Star Concert and absolutely SHINED! ✨👞

After an award-winning season and so many unforgettable performances, we couldn’t have imagined a better final stage for Stargazing. To have our dancers share this piece alongside such incredible tap artists and be part of the DC Tap Fest experience was truly an honor.

We are so proud of these dancers, the artistry and musicality they brought to this piece, and everything Stargazing has become over the past year.

One final performance. One incredible stage. And a whole lot of memories. 🌟

🌟 STARGAZING IS HEADED TO DC TAP FEST! 🌟

We are SO excited and incredibly honored that our tap group Stargazing will be taking the stage at DC Tap Festival TONIGHT! 👞✨

Our dancers will be performing in BOTH the 7:00 PM and 9:00 PM shows, and we couldn’t be prouder to see them sharing the stage at such an incredible celebration of tap dance. 💙

This is such a special opportunity for our dancers, and we can’t wait to cheer them on as they represent Urbana Dance in DC!

💙 TEAM THURSDAY 💙

One of the best parts of Sunday’s Dance Team Picnic was revealing our Big & Little matches for the season!

There were lots of smiles, hugs, and new connections as our dancers found out who they’ll be paired with this year. 💙

Our Big & Little tradition is such a special part of Dance Team — connecting dancers across ages and teams and giving them someone extra to cheer for, support, and make memories with all season long.

We were missing a few dancers on Sunday, which means we still have a few Big & Little introductions to make — we can’t wait for them to meet too! 🥰

Here’s to a season of cheering each other on, making memories, and growing even closer as a team. 💙

MONDAY RECAP - UDS IN THE COMMUNITY!

What a fun Sunday at JSSA Family Wellness Day!

Our UDS dancers did so much more than take the stage! 💙

🔥 We performed Temperature
🎶 We performed Your Mama’s Playlist
💙 We hosted a UDS table and connected with families throughout the day
✨ Our dancers explored and interacted with the other organizations and activities at the event
💃 AND they even jumped in and danced with the MOM-entum Dance Troupe.

We absolutely love opportunities like this. Performing is a huge part of what we do, but being present, connecting with others, trying something new, and showing up for our community is just as important. 🫶

A HUGE thank you to our dancers and families who performed, volunteered, hung out with us throughout the day, and represented UDS so well! 💙

And thank you to JSSA for inviting us to be part of such a wonderful community event!

We’ve had a LOT of unforgettable dances through the years… so we decided to have a little fun and turn some of them into Urbana Dance-opoly!

From One Way or Another and Stone Cold to Bozo, 93 Million Miles, Alien Encounter, Whistle While You Werk and more — every square brings back a memory. And of course, our National Champions “Wipe Me Down” and “Vogue” earned some special recognition. 🏆
