It is with a extremely sad heart that I share the news that my friend and fellow Urbana Youth Wrestling coach, Tyler Zimmer, passed away, suddenly, on Wednesday, 12/17.
Many people have reached out on how to help and support
Sarah Zimmer and the twins, so we have set up a GoFundMe to help ease their immediate financial burdens. Any support and donation is greatly appreciated.
May God bless Tyler and please continue to pray for his family and friends throughout this difficult time.

Preseason practices (OPTIONAL) will begin Wednesday 9/3/25 and occur on Mondays and Wednesdays at our Dustin Practice Room from 5:30-6:30 (Intro, New to Wrestling) & 6:30-8p (Experienced).

Regular Season begins on first week of November.

Still about 12 spots left for the University of MD summer wrestling camp held at Urbana HS. This is open to Girls and Boys HS aged through 7 yrs old. HS & MS wrestlers will be on 3 mats and Elementary aged on 3 mats.
This is a great opportunity to get three 90 minute sessions in for 5 days straight, led by the University of Maryland coaching staff and collegiate wrestlers.

And so begins the 2024-25 wrestling season! Open, optional, FREE practices begin tonight from 6-730p at our Dustin Practice Room.
Mats are freshly mopped and coaches will be here to kick off our preseason.
55 wrestlers registered already! If you have yet to register for the upcoming winter season, it's not too late. Go to our NEW website:
Urbanareccouncil.com/Wrestling and get registered for all the fun and hard work ahead. Girls and boys from K through 8th are eligible and encouraged to register.
If you son or daughter isn't sure quite yet about wrestling, bring them to a free, preseason Practice, held each Monday and Wednesday from 6-730p at our Dustin Construction (proud sponsor) Practice location, just 2 miles south of the HS, on the right.

Another great day for USA Wrestling! Although not what each of them sought out to win, each wrestled with amazing perseverance. 2 Maryland wrestlers, Helen Maroulis, 57kg, & Aaron Brooks, 86kg, each brought home Bronze. Spencer Lee, 57kg, took Silver. Super congratulations to those 3 exceptional wrestlers.
More tomorrow as another MD wrestler, Kyle Snyder, begins his journey to GOLD!

Another great day for USA Womans Wrestling. Sarah Hildebrant takes home GOLD at 50kg.
Now up, tomorrow moGOLD! starting at 5am, 2 Maryland native wrestlers, Aaron Brooks at 86kg and Helen Maroulis at 57kg.
Lets Go USA Wrestling, bring home some more Gold!

USA Olympic Womans Wrestling is on FIRE so far! Amit Elor has won Olympic GOLD at 68kg. Youngest wrestler (mens or womens) to win Gold!!
And Sarah Hildebrant, 50kg, earns a spot in the Gold medal match tomorrow.
Womens Olympic Wrestling in the US is strong and only getting stronger!
Also, Mijain Lopez Nunez of Cuba became the greatest Greco-Roman Wrestler of ALL Time! Winning his 5th Gold medal at 130kg.
This sport is truly for everyone!
