A ship engine failed, no one could fix it. Then they brought in a man with 40 years on the job. He inspected the engine carefully, top to bottom. After looking things over, the guy reached into his bag and pulled out a small hammer. Instantly, the engine lurched into life. The engine was fixed! Seven days later the owners got his bill for $10K. 'What?!' the owners said 'You hardly did anything. Se

The reply simply said "Tapping with a hammer, $2. Knowing where to tap? $9,998." Don't ever underestimate experience!

Are You Packing Your Resume with Fluff! 🚫

When it comes to federal resumes, the biggest mistake job seekers make is "Missing Meat." 🥩

Vague descriptions and generalized bullet points don’t work. To win over the 6 gatekeepers and stand out among hundreds of candidates, your resume needs evidence-based accomplishments that pack a punch. 👊

Stop using strategies that don’t work—it’s costing you time, money, and confidence. We have unlocked a proprietary system to help you showcase your value at the highest level so you can finally be rated Best Qualified.

🚫 Stop Submitting 1,000+ Resumes to Get a Job!
Are you playing the "Resume Bingo" game? 🎯

Many job seekers admit to submitting the exact same resume to hundreds—sometimes even thousands—of job announcements. But weeks go by, and all you get is the dreaded silence of the application black hole.

When you blindly blast your resume everywhere without targeting it, you're hurting more than just your chances of getting hired—you're destroying your confidence. 📉

If you don't score in the top 1–2% to achieve that "Best Qualified" rating, it’s highly unlikely you’ll ever get the interview, let alone the offer.

🛑 It’s Not You. It’s a Flawed Approach.
Take our client, Josie. She spent over a decade in a job she disliked because she initially entered at too low of a pay grade. She and her family were miserable because she was trapped in a cycle of doing what doesn't work.

What was the culprit? Mistake #1: Failure to Prioritize. ❌

Your resume is your single most important career asset. Spray-and-pray tactics don't work in today's market. To get unstuck, you need a magnetic resume that:

Stop doing what doesn't work: Quality always beats quantity.

Positions you at your true value: Tailor your experience so you don't enter at a lower grade than you deserve.

Speaks directly to the job description: Stop sending generic copies and start answering the specific needs of the employer.

Stop letting a broken strategy keep you stuck in a job that doesn't appreciate your true worth. It’s time to re-prioritize.

The federal government is doubling down on cybersecurity, and that means one thing for job seekers: hiring is coming.

President Trump just signed NSPM-12, a new memo that sets aggressive timelines for securing military, intelligence, and classified systems. The roles being called out? Cyber defense analysts, incident responders, and cloud security specialists.

This isn't background noise. It's a direct signal that agencies need qualified people, fast.

The question is whether your resume is magnetic enough to speak to each of the six gatekeepers standing between you and that offer.

Let's get you prepared to walk through the door. Register for our webinar and watch the replay from Federal Cybersecurity Résumés: How to Stand Out and Get Referred.

Flag Day: More Than a Symbol

Each year on June 14, we celebrate Flag Day and the adoption of the Stars and Stripes as our nation's flag.

The American flag represents more than fabric and thread. It reflects sacrifice, resilience, hope, and a commitment to something greater than ourselves.

Over the years, I've had the privilege of working with military members, veterans, federal employees, first responders, and purpose-driven professionals whose careers are rooted in service. Whether visible or behind the scenes, their work matters.

Flag Day reminds us that service takes many forms.

It may mean defending our country, mentoring others, strengthening our communities, solving complex problems, or simply showing up each day with integrity and purpose.

If you're navigating a career transition or questioning the value of your experience, remember this: Your work matters. Your story matters.

The skills you've built through leadership, perseverance, and service still have the power to make a difference.

On this Flag Day, take a moment to reflect on what service means to you. Celebrate those who have answered the call in ways both visible and unseen, and express gratitude for the freedoms we enjoy and the people who help preserve them.

Happy Flag Day.

May we honor not only the flag itself, but the values it represents and the people who strive each day to uphold them.

CISA is extending nearly 200 job offers this month.

That's not a rumor. That's the acting CISA director confirming it publicly.

After a period of significant workforce cuts, the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency is actively rebuilding, with plans to hire up to 600 new employees and a wave of tentative offers going out right now.

If you've been waiting for a sign that federal cybersecurity hiring is back, this is it.

The question isn't whether the opportunities are there.
The question is whether your resume and LinkedIn are speaking to all six gatekeepers.

If the answer is "unsure," let's fix that. 👇

If you are a cybersecurity profession, join our webinar tonight. Link in comments and in our Federal Job Search help group on LinkedIn.

Federal hiring has changed.

One of the most significant shifts in federal hiring is the request for a two-page resume.

For cybersecurity professionals, this creates a real challenge!

You might have years of technical experience. Certifications. Projects. Perhaps a clearance. Accomplishments across multiple agencies or contracts. How do you compress all of that into two pages with all the federal detail, without losing what makes you competitive, and without putting it in a 6-point font?

Even if you are a student, it's hard to get it all constructed properly.

The answer is not to try to include everything.

The answer is not to cut everything down.

The answer is to lead with what the gatekeepers are evaluating.

Page one needs to do specific work: establish your Specialized Experience clearly, use the qualifying language from the announcement, and immediately show the gatekeeper/audiences that you meet the criteria before they turn the page.

What goes on page two is a strategic decision, not a formatting decision.

The professionals who navigate this format successfully are not just writing shorter resumes. They are writing more strategically targeted resumes. The selection process has not become less rigorous. It has become more precise.

…and I'll bet you didn't know the 2-page resume is only for 2 of the gatekeepers, not all 6!

If you are preparing a federal application, it's critical to start with knowing who your resume is speaking to and who needs what…and when.

If you are a cybersecurity professional, join me Thursday night at 7 p.m. Eastern to discover more on how to land the apprenticeship and other cybersecurity roles in the federal government.

CYBERSECURITY PROFESSIONALS preparing for the apprenticeship program...

A federal resume is not a longer version of your private-sector resume.

It is a completely different document with a completely different strategy.

Here is what most people do not know:

A true magnetic federal resume can run two to five pages. Do you still need this one? You’d be surprised at the answer. More details on this in the Federal Job Search Help group. Did you join yet?

A resume isn't just a summary of your career. It’s a structured record of your relevant experience, written to align with a specific job announcement, using the language the agency used to describe the role through your experiences, and it must speak to each of the gatekeepers. Not much to ask, right?

Magnetic federal resumes include:

● Detailed position descriptions with hours per week and supervisor contact information

● Accomplishment-based bullets tied directly to the duties listed in the announcement (Preferably from your STCARI Stories™)

● Specialized Experience written to mirror show evidence

● Verbatim keywords from the Qualifications section of the posting

● Evidence for every gatekeeper to demonstrate you can do the job

Five gatekeepers use a qualification review process, and the details really matter to the sixth gatekeeper.

Make sure you have evidence that your background matches. If the words aren’t there with evidence, the match is likely not to happen. Yes, there’s more to that, but this is the core.

Your private-sector resume was written for a different audience.

Your federal resume needs to speak to each gatekeeper/audience.

That distinction changes everything about how it is written.

Let that gel for a bit…I’ll be back with more for you! 😉

Let's get ready for that apprenticeship!

The Department of Defense is launching its brand-new Cyber Registered Apprenticeship Program—a 12-month, paid pathway into federal cybersecurity.

No degree required. Real training. Real mentorship. And a direct path to a full-time DoD role when you complete it.

Roles being trained for include Cyber Defense Analyst, Infrastructure Support Specialist, and Incident Responder.

The Announcement/Application will be posted on USAJOBS. And when they drop, they will move fast.

𝗛𝗲𝗿𝗲'𝘀 𝘄𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗺𝗼𝘀𝘁 𝗽𝗲𝗼𝗽𝗹𝗲 𝗴𝗲𝘁 𝘄𝗿𝗼𝗻𝗴: 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝘆 𝘄𝗮𝗶𝘁 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗽𝗼𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴, 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗻 𝘀𝗰𝗿𝗮𝗺𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝘁𝗼 𝗽𝘂𝘁 𝘁𝗼𝗴𝗲𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿 𝗮 𝗺𝗮𝗴𝗻𝗲𝘁𝗶𝗰 𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘂𝗺𝗲...𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗮 𝗿𝘂𝘀𝗵𝗲𝗱 𝗳𝗲𝗱𝗲𝗿𝗮𝗹 𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘂𝗺𝗲 𝗶𝘀 𝗮 𝗿𝗲𝗷𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝗳𝗲𝗱𝗲𝗿𝗮𝗹 𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘂𝗺𝗲.

The people who get selected will be the ones who showed up prepared.

That means understanding the landscape, knowing what federal hiring teams are actually looking for, and having a resume that's built to be selected...not just submitted.

I put together a free resource to help you do exactly that. It's called the Federal Cybersecurity Opportunity Map, and it covers the agencies hiring right now, GS grade levels decoded, the 7 criteria cyber hiring teams use to evaluate candidates, and the step most applicants skip that costs them the interview before they ever hit submit.

👉 Grab it here: cccareersolutions.com/federal-cybersecurity-opportunity-map/

There's also information inside about an upcoming training I'm hosting for cybersecurity professionals. If that's you, you'll want to be there.
