In case you missed it ... here's our new head coach!
IFHS announces Dustin Medellin as the new head football coach.
He brings a winning culture and 18 years experience as an assistant coach to this position. He most recently served as Defensive Coordinator at Hillcrest. Over the last 5 seasons, his defenses added to a program that won 2 conference titles and made 3 straight state championship appearances β culminating in a state title in 2024.
βWe are excited to welcome Coach Medellin to Tiger Nation,β said Principal Dallan Parker. βHis passion for the game, dedication to student-athletes, and track record of success make him an outstanding fit. We are confident in his ability to lead our football program.β
Dustinβs career includes stops at multiple local schools, including being part of Idaho Fallsβ teams that made three straight playoff appearances from 2016-18. He has a passion for football and helping all players learn strong fundamentals and develop skills that will benefit them on and off the field.
βFrom the beginning of this search, it was clear we were seeking a leader who embodied integrity, competitiveness, and relentless commitment to development of our student athletes,β said Nick Birch, athletic director. βCoach Medellin is that leader. He has demonstrated the ability to develop talent, build strong community relationships, and lead programs with discipline and purpose. His track record of success on and off the field speaks for itself.β
He was interviewed by a committee of IFHS administrators, coaches, parents with and without connections to the football program, and community members in IFHS boundaries.
Dustin has worked for Rehabilitative Health Services in Idaho Falls for the past 15 years and serves as the Department Head for Community Based Services. He has been married to his wife, Natausha, for 20 years and they have four kids: Maddox, McKenna, Paxton and Presley.
βWe are confident that under his leadership, our student-athletes will thrive, our culture will strengthen, and our program will compete at the highest level again,β said Parker. βThe future of Tiger Football is bright, and we are excited for what lies ahead with Coach Medellin!β
