Idabel XC would like to thank Cleats 4 Kids for their donation to our running program. For the past three years during the summer Idabel XC has reached out for their help as well as during the winter for Track. They have outfitted our athletes with quality running shoes since we met them. Also, big shout out to Coach Kevin Ball for picking them up for us.
We appreciate you.

Catoosa, OK-OSSAA 4A State Championships are in the books. For the girls Katie McClure “comes out of nowhere” to place 2nd in her first ever high school track season in the high jump. Three coaches asked us where she came from because she didn’t jump against them at such and such meet. She cleared 5-2, but just missed her PR of 5-4 and a chance for gold. Katie is a leader in our Ag Program and is gone a lot during the track season. She was a member of the recently crowned State Championship Forestry Team. She jumps when she can and often times she’s either alone or with her father, the newly appointed high jump coach, Brandon McClure. Thank you to both for all your hard work this season. Casey Allen qualified in the 200m and the 400m run and ended her season with a 27.00 flat in the 200m and 61.34 in the 400m. Both of these young ladies are juniors and we are positive we will see them next year in their respective events. Mya Murray qualified in the Shot and ended her track career right where it started, in the Shot ring. It wasn’t how she or we wanted, but she is about to embark on an illustrious collegiate Powerlifting journey and we will miss her. Thank you Princess for being such a good supporter as well, always present, and you can always tell where she is sitting, you just have to listen.

Baker Hoskins spent the meet pulling Idabel points as an individual. He placed 4th in the Long Jump with a 21-8.25. He also made the finals of the 110m hurdles and earned Bronze with a 14.70. Baker kept on and placed second with a PR of 38.70 in the 300m hurdles. It was a 2,3,4 finish at State to end Baker’s Track career in Idabel. We’re very thankful for all of your time and effort you put in for the track program. We also appreciate the help of his mother Tiffany and all of her statistical and analytical knowledge when it comes to our Track team. Benny Mthethwa Long Jumped at State, but fell short of making the finals this season. We hope to see him jumping in college where he will be allowed to Triple Jump of which he is the leading Triple Jumper in Oklahoma and Arkansas according to Athletic.net. The last of the relays made the trip ranked 16th going into the last day of the meet. They finished 10th overall which was a much better finish than the rankings. Cassidy Pondexter, JaShawn Dixon, Aidyn James, Baker Hoskins ran that event. It was the farewell race for Dixon as he finished his senior season at State as well. Jaxson Taylor made his final appearance in the Pole Vault. He didn’t finish where he wanted to, but he understands the work now involved to get there. Bryce Bee entered into his first State Championship ranked 16th as well and finished 13th. Considering it was his 6th week of practice and ever even throwing the discus we are very proud of his performance.

Thank you to all of our supporters, fans, athletes, parents, and anyone else who was involved in our Track journey this season. Thank you to our Superintendent Alan Bryant and our Athletic Director Kevin Ball for showing up and supporting us at State, Regionals, and other random meets throughout the season. It is refreshing to have Administrators present and cheering the athletes on.

The Idabel Warriors had a short practice today at THE Union High School. Many thanks to Coach Dial and the Union Athletic Department for allowing us to borrow your facilities. We even got to meet some alumni who are current coaches. Union is also where Coach Harjo and new Idabel Fire Chief Kurt Stevenson played high school football and graduated from.

Plainview, OK-4A Regionals for Idabel Track and Field. Baker Hoskins once again qualified in four events for the State Championships next week. As an individual he made it in the 300 hurdles with the 2nd fastest time of the day and in the ENTIRE state in 4A all season with a 38.97. He would have won every other Regional, but he was paired with the #1 hurdler from Plainview. He's looking forward to a rematch on the biggest stage next weekend. He also finished 2nd in the 100 hurdles and qualified in the Long Jump and as the anchor on the 4x400m relay.

Benny Mthethwa qualified in the Long Jump for the State Championships for the 2nd year in a row. He has a long week of recovery after injuring himself in the LJ on his final jump. He is also looking for some redemption next weekend.

Mya Murray has once again qualified in the Shot Put. She began her track journey as a freshman in the Shot and will also end it there. Her freshman year she was just happy to be there and even made the finals that season. This year it's about the icing on the cake.

Casey Allen made her presence known in the 400m and 200m ensuring her trip to State is made. She placed 2nd in the 400m and 3rd in the 200m. She's a three time state qualifier now as a Junior

Jaxson Taylor punched his ticket in the Pole Vault. He qualified as the 2nd placed finisher at Regionals this past Saturday. He has put in hours of work and travel to a Vault Club in Arkansas and in his first full season of Pole Vault it has paid off.

Katie McClure was the Regional Champion high jumper this year. She put aside the State Champion Forestry team for one weekend to show that this girl has a multitude of talents. On top of being a great teammate and person she is also a phenominal athlete.

Taysyn Hall also qualified in the high jump by placing 2nd. She is a freshman who is a jumps specialist and has made the big stage as a 9th grader.

Bryce Bee came out of nowhere to make the State Championships as a freshman thrower who has been throwing for just over a month. He was asked to come throw just after powerlifting season ended and didn't make the move right away, then one day he just showed up. He's a tencaious worker and he has lots of promise. He finished 3rd with his second to last throw of the day punching his ticket to next weekend

Lastly the 4x400 relay team made it placing 3rd. Cassidy Pondexter (who was a member of the State Runner-Up track team from 2 years ago), Aydin James (First year runner), Sabian Pond (Stepped into to fill the shoes of an injured runner), and Baker Hoskins (Goat) finished the day to make sure the 4x4 team made it to next week.

Us three coaches who are spread super thin want to thank all the parents, fans, athletes, and anyone else for your support and hard work. Your help on meet day does not go unnoticed: pictures, food, tent help, and so much more. Yes we are hard on your kids, but it's because we see so much more in them. We enjoy coaching your students and preparing them for competition as well as life.

See you next week,

Coach Harjo
Coach Gambol &
Coach Freeman
