Working at the Rocket Roller Rink was one of the best things I ever had the pleasure to do. Many, many kids over the years worked for Maudie and Carl and learned so many lessons! Some of the many were hot to count back money! How to use a mop correctly! How ALWAYS wear a shirt with a collar! Never wear bad cologne or perfume ( Maudie would tell you wipe it off)! An o is in the alphabet and a 0 is a number! How many kids have been told by Carl “need to see a little daylight” while couple skating! How many remember “Allstate”? Or “ couple skate, ladies and gentleman couple skate”? “Speed race”, “train race”, “shoot the duck”? How about Ease on down the road? Always knew my evening of fun was over when that song came on. How many remember Maudie’s long finger nails? She could count money Or drive a nail better than anyone! Carl would always take the newbies to the men’s room and show them how to clean the urinals and toilets. He would always say “ I want you to know that even the boss should be willing to scrub a toilet.” I would give anything to have those two people teaching kids the “ right way
