The Summer Solstice is an invitation to notice the light.

Not just the light around you, but the light within you.

The part of you that still desires joy.
The part of you that wants to feel present in your body.
The part of you that is learning to receive warmth, rest, pleasure, and care without needing to earn them first.

So often, summer asks us to perform.

To look a certain way.
To be more active.
To have more energy.
To make the season look beautiful from the outside.

But what if this season could be softer than that?

What if the longest day of the year could become a moment to honor what your body needs in the light of truth?

Maybe your body needs rest.
Maybe it needs hydration.
Maybe it needs shade.
Maybe it needs play.
Maybe it needs slowness.
Maybe it needs permission to enjoy the season exactly as it is.

The Summer Solstice reminds us that light does not have to be loud to be powerful.

Sometimes the light is in the pause.
Sometimes the light is in the breath.
Sometimes the light is in letting your body belong to the season without asking it to become anything else first.

Today, may you honor the body you have.
May you listen for the care it is asking for.
May you let joy, rest, and ease be part of your wellness practice.

And may this season remind you:

You do not have to change your body to be worthy of the light.

You are already allowed to bloom here.

This is for Black and Brown bodies, bodies living with chronic illness, bodies that have been told to push through, bodies that have carried more than the world ever acknowledged.

It wasn't always this way. Long before productivity became a measure of worth, rest was simply part of how the body moved through life. A rhythm, not a reward.

Somewhere along the way, that rhythm got buried under pressure. The pressure to do more, prove more, stay in motion even when your body was signaling something different.

Choosing rest now, even in small ways, can be a return to something your body has carried all along.

Maybe it looks like closing your eyes for ten minutes without an agenda. Or letting your body stay still in a hammock while the afternoon moves slower than you do.

Wherever you find yourself today, may rest find its way back to you, gently, and without condition.

Have you ever thought of body peace as a form of freedom?

So much of the conversation around liberation lives outside the body. The systems, the spaces, the world around us. And all of that matters. But liberation also lives inside, in the relationship you have with your own reflection, your own skin, your own body image.

When that relationship softens, something shifts. The constant monitoring eases. The energy that went into managing how your body looked or felt becomes available for something else.

Maybe it shows up as a longer breath before you walk into a room. Or noticing your reflection in a window and letting it pass without comment.

What would feel different in your body if peace with your body image was already yours?

There is a particular kind of tired that comes from a whole season spent trying to fix yourself.

The quiet monitoring.
The bracing before mirrors and photos.
The small adjustments you make all day without even noticing anymore.
It is care, in its way, but it is the kind that leaves you more depleted than held.

Real care can feel different.
It can begin the moment you stop trying to fix the body you are in and start tending to the one you actually have.
That might be the afternoon you let yourself lie down without earning it first, the warmth of the day on your skin and nowhere you have to be.

What would it feel like to care for your body this weekend without trying to change a single thing about it?

Have you ever been handed all the right wellness advice and still could not reach any of it?

The water.
The movement.
The early nights.
You know what care is supposed to look like.
But when being in your body already feels like something to manage or escape, that care has nowhere soft to land. It sits just out of reach.

This is true for so many of us.
For people in larger bodies who have been handed wellness that was never built with them in mind.
For those navigating chronic illness and shifting capacity, where the standard advice does not account for the body actually living it.
When you do not feel safe or at home in your body, the rest of your care cannot find its way in.

So much of wellness gets built on top of how you feel about your body, as if body image is a separate project you will get to later. For a lot of us, it is the part that decides whether anything else is even reachable.

When you are not at odds with your body, the rest of your care gets easier to receive.

A glass of water becomes something kind instead of corrective.
Rest stops needing to be earned.
The morning you wake up and do not immediately catalog what is wrong is the morning the rest of your care has room to begin.

Caring for your body image is not the thing you do after wellness. It is often where wellness starts.

What might shift in your care if peace with your body came first, instead of last?

Summer meets you where you are.

It does not hold its warmth until your body feels more settled. The late afternoon light is already here, slipping through whatever room you are in, landing without asking anything of you first.

Arriving as you are means beginning from this exact place, this body, in this summer, without a condition attached.

What might it truly feel like to find peace within your body this summer?

Peace in the body can arrive in the smallest moments. The warmth of the day settling on your skin, your breath slow enough that your body finally has room to land.

For those navigating chronic illness or shifting capacity, peace in the body does not always hold steady. It comes and goes, shaped by what your body is carrying on any given day. Those moments are still real, and they still count.

The Body Relationship® Method is built around exactly this practice, returning to body connection and care, whatever your body is carrying today.

If you are looking for a space where this kind of reflection continues each week, the newsletter is where that conversation lives. Link in bio.

What does peace feel like in your body, even in its quietest form?
