The Hutchinson School of Tae Kwon Do Moo Duk Kwan was started in 2000 with a vision of offering alternative opportunities to at-risk kids by providing martial arts lessons free of charge. The goal was to help instill in children a sense of self-confidence and respect for others, especially family. All of the instructors feel that martial arts is a gift that has been passed down from generation to

generation and should continue to be passed on by each generation. Students learn life skills like courtesy, integrity, respect and self-control, in a controlled, family-oriented environment. Parents are encouraged to join their children in classes in order to foster this family atmosphere. In 2008, the school became a non-profit organization and is governed by a seven-member board of directors. The school operates strictly through donations and fundraisers. The only fees that a student will pay are for belt promotion tests and for their tobak (uniform) should they choose to purchase one. The instructors offer their knowledge and time as a gift to the community of Hutchinson, Kansas. They are not only instructors of the art of Tae Kwon Do Moo Duk Kwan- they are examples and mentors to children of all races, financial backgrounds and religions.

It's Sunday,time to relax. State Championship is over. I had a great attendance and support from other schools and instructors to make it possible. Thank you for your support. Master Hoblemann and I were honored and proud to award Master Miranda Baty her 4Dan Black Belt. Congratulations Master Baty. I also want to thank all of my parents for stepping up and helping out keeping the tournament running smooth. Congratulations to all of the competitors that came and thanks to all the parents that brought them. HTKD did very well. Way to go team. Can't wait til next year.
