In 2013, the IOC recommended dropping wrestling from the 2020 Olympic program. It was the girls that saved the sport. The they put their money where their mouth is. Girls wrestling was the fastest growing high school sport in 2022, and continues to be. However, it is sanctioned in only half of the states. The Documentary+ streaming channel (Free with ads) just released a docuseries chronicling a group of girls fighting to change that.

The news broke early. AJ Kluck busting into the pre-season rankings. AJ just missed a state appearance last year by taking 3rd at sectionals. That makes 5 Husty wrestlers in 5 years that have been ranked with 4 wrestlers making a state appearance in the toughest high school sport. Not too shabby for one of the smallest D3 schools. AJ will be wrestling with the new Dodgeland/Husty Co-op. Former Husty wrestler, Coach Lexi Burback will be looking to break into the top 10 (my bet is top 5) and looking for a state podium spot for Hartford, and Sectional qualifier, Jessica Lara, will be looking to qualify for Mayville/Oakfield.
In college news, former Husty wrestler, Adalyn Raue is quickly making noise at MATC Milwaukee Women’s soccer as Freshmen captain. She has scored 2 goals in 2 games helping the Stormers to a 2-0 start. Joe Beavers will be wrestling his second season with the UW-Oshkosh Titans.

This is an email sent to last seasons wrestlers. However I want to post it here because it involves the future of Hustisford wrestling and wrestlers.

Good afternoon Husty wrestling,
A lot has happened since youth state back in March and I hope all of the kids are adjusting. As a club, we have been trying to navigate all of these changes. The club board will be meeting this week to discuss this upcoming youth season. The main question will be “Will there be another year of Hustisford Wrestling Club?” The answer depends on you. This is your club. We have the money saved, we have a coach(es), we have the facility for one more year. The most important question is, will we have wrestlers. We ask that you respond letting us know if you would like to continue at Hustisford for another year. Club money has always been spent on the kids. Coaches and board members have never been paid or received a discount. Your response will determine how the clubs savings is spent, but it will go to local wrestling. Hustisford high school is available and nothing would change as far as practices. Please let us know if you intend to register your child into Husty wrestling.

Tomorrow, Hustisford Wrestling will have 3 former wrestlers competing in Peshtigo. Joe Beavers will be wrestling in the 18+ division, Lexi Burback will be dominating the girls HS, and Maggie Beavers will be returning to the mat after a 5 year hiatus.

USA Wrestling and USA Bracketing are teaming up with RAF to hold youth tournaments. It would be super cool to see 8 year olds on the same card as Olympic gold medalist.
