HSC 3v3 Summer League Rules and Details
1) Grade levels are based on upcoming school year.
2) Games will be played mainly on Monday and Wednesday nights in June and Wednesday and Friday nights in July. League will start June 8th and end July 31st. We will try to avoid weekend games but depending on number of teams, Sunday evening games are possible. Game times will range from 5:30pm – 8:30pm.
3) Each team is allowed to have one coach on the bench during games. A total of 5 players can dress for each team. Games will be played half court with 3 players per team on the court during game play. Playing time is determined by team and coach. Each team will have one 30 second timeout during the first 15 minutes of the game only.
4) Each team will play twice a night. Play one game, sit one game, play a second game. Each game will be played to 11 points by 1’s and 2’s. Game will not exceed 18 minutes. Games can end in a tie so we can remain on schedule.
5) Games will be played on a make it take it basis, but one team cannot exceed more than 3 consecutive points. 3 consecutive points, then it’s the other team’s ball. Once possession has changed, the 3 consecutive points start over again. (A team can win 11-0 but not without the other team given multiple chances on offense). Defense must play man to man (no camping out in the paint). Alternating possession on jump balls.
6) Ball must be “checked” at the top of the key, beyond the arc to start play. After a made basket, ball must be “checked” to resume play. On a defensive rebound or turnover, ball and both feet must be cleared beyond the 3-point line before attempting to score.
7) Games will have a referee. Two consecutive defensive fouls will result in 1 point for the offensive team. If a player is fouled in the act of shooting and makes the basket, if that is the second consecutive foul, they will be awarded the basket and the point for the foul. (These points will be awarded even if it is the 4th or 5th consecutive point for that team on offense) Any obvious stalling or delay of game to run out the 18-minute clock will result in a turnover.
8)Absolutely no fighting or arguing with referees. A technical foul (coach or player) will automatically result in a point to the opposing team. Two technical fouls on a player or coach will result in an ejection. Any ejection may result in a removal from Hurricane Sports Complex for the season.
9) Play hard and get better! Have some fun!
