The fall tournament season officially kicked off this past weekend as our Academy teams competed in the Labor Day Shoot Out hosted by NC Fusion!

Week 2 of our WVFC School Soccer Roundup ⚽️

Another big week for WVFC players representing their school teams across the region!

Hannah Allen, Aubree Welch, Avery French and Aubrey Coiner all found the back of the net this week.

Tanner Gum added another hat trick against Woodrow Wilson, bringing him to 9 goals in 6 games.

Aaden Rodighiero is up to 9 goals and 2 assists in 3 games, while Roy Torres has 7 goals and 3 assists in 4 games.

Freshman Kase Legg continues his strong start with 8 goals in 4 games, and Nate Boyer has 9 goals through 6 games.

Joey Rader has contributed 2 goals and 5 assists through 4 games, while Huntington sophomore Ashton Schultz had a huge performance with a hat trick and an assist.

Emma Hosaflook has 2 goals and 2 assists on the season.

WVFC U14 players Gideon Ervin and Issac Legg found themselves on opposite sides as Cross Lanes Christian faced Calvary Baptist Academy, with both WVFC players finding the back of the net.

Some of our younger players are making their mark at the varsity level too. Adam Baumwell, Mikey Cajohn and Anderson Brown from our 2013 Boys have all made the varsity team at John Adams.

Across the border in Kentucky, Carson Enochs from our 2012 Boys is playing varsity as a freshman at Ashland High School and already has 1 goal and 1 assist this season.

Soccer at Schools is officially underway! ⚽️ Together with our partners at Mountain Care Network, WVFC is helping bring soccer directly into local schools, giving more kids the opportunity to experience the game in a fun and accessible way.

We already have around 13 schools lined up, primarily throughout Kanawha County, with more to come. WVFC and Mountain Care Network are also proud to be among the first helping pioneer this new U.S. Soccer initiative anywhere in the country.

Now we’re looking to expand even further, especially into Putnam and Cabell counties.

West Virginia Futbol Club is proud to announce Mountain Care Network as a major new clubwide partner.

Mountain Care Network will become a visible part of WVFC across our jerseys, teams, events, programs and community initiatives. More importantly, this partnership brings together two organizations committed to supporting young people and strengthening communities across West Virginia.

One of the first initiatives supported by this partnership is Soccer at Schools. In collaboration with U.S. Soccer, licensed WVFC coaches will visit West Virginia schools to provide free, weeklong soccer instruction during PE classes and activity periods. Students will be introduced to the game while learning about confidence, teamwork, respect, healthy habits, resilience and mental wellness.

Mountain Care Network was created to increase access to mental health services, reduce stigma and help build stronger families and communities. We are proud to have their support as we continue growing the game and creating opportunities throughout our state.

It’s been a weekend filled with soccer for our academy teams!

Some of our U11 girls kicked it off on Friday night with the UC women’s team. They walked out with the starting line up, watched the match and collected a few autographs.

On Saturday several academy teams headed to Beckley for friendlies giving players valuable game experience.

And the weekend isn’t over yet! Today is WVFC Day at UC as the men’s team takes on Saginaw Valley State University at 1:00pm! ⚽️

WVFC, let's fill the stands this Sunday, August 30th in support of the University of Charleston Men's Soccer team as they take on nationally ranked Saginaw Valley State University.

Kickoff is at 1:00 PM at Welch Athletic Complex in Charleston.
