Saturday night was truly special as we witnessed two of our coaches deliver outstanding performances at the New Line Cagefighting event in Lexington, KY! We’ve watched them invest countless hours of hard work and dedication, and it was awesome to see all their effort pay off.
After dealing with multiple opponents withdrawing over the past year, coach Erik stepped back into the cage on short notice and fighting in a higher weight class. He faced the challenge head-on and dominated, ending the fight just 58 seconds into the first round with a rear naked choke!
To conclude the evening, coach Roman stepped into the ring for a title bout and showcased his exceptional striking skills! He secured a unanimous decision victory, becoming the NLC 155lb MMA champion! He now currently holds FIVE New Line Cagefighting titles!

We had 15 kids and 9 adults representing Category Five at the WVGO State Championship, and we were so excited to see everyone’s skills and progress on display. Just as important, the day showed perseverance, sportsmanship, and respect. We are proud of the way our athletes represented Category Five and supported one another! We’re also thrilled to share that our team came away as the youth team champion and the overall team champion!
Thank you to the other teams for the awesome competition! There were tough matches all around, but something that always sticks out to us is the great sportsmanship we see between the teams. Also, a huge thanks to Butch and everyone who help make these tournaments happen. It’s great having a chance to compete so close to home, and we appreciate all the time and effort that goes into it.
At the end of the day, we’re celebrating the effort, growth, and spirit our community brought to the mat, and we’re excited to keep building from here.
