In honor of ECHS Graduation, we would like to recognize our seniors for all of their wonderful accomplishments and future plans!
Martey Marie Dunton is the daughter of Charles and Kerri Dunton and the sister of Kylar. On the course, Martey has been instrumental in her team's success over the last five years. She has medaled at the 5A State Championship six times including the Individual State Title and leading her team to their first Team State Championship in school history, two runner-up medals (silver), and two third place medals (bronze). She was also the Individual District Champion for four consecutive years, and she led her team to five consecutive District Championships. She has received awards for the Most Valuable Player numerous times, Player of the Year, as well as the Highest GPA on the team. Martey has also received the Golf Etiquette Award and the Golf Mentor Award. She is a golf instructor for the Whispering Pines Junior Golf League and the Fore the Ladies Golf League.
Martey is a member of The Lockhearts - where she was crowned Dutchess for her community service hours, Swarm Club, Beta Club, Key Club - where she has served as class representative, and Student Council where she has served as class representative, Vice-President, and most recently President. She is a volunteer for Camp Big Heart, a summer camp for children and adults with developmental disabilities.
Martey has served her class as Homecoming Maid for her 9th, 10th, and 11th grade years and is an elected Senior Class Officer. She is an All-A Honor Roll Student, and she has received numerous academic awards as well as the positive attitude award. She received the 2025 East Central Civic Association Youth of the Year Award, the Class of 2025 Spirit of EC Award, and was inducted to the Class of 2025 Hall of Fame. She is graduating with Highest Honors. She is also a College and Career Readiness recipient and Mississippi Scholar. Martey has received the MGCCC Academic Excellence Scholarship, the MGCCC Leadership Scholarship, the East Central Civic Association Scholarship, the Terry Monk Memorial Scholarship sponsored by the Krewe of Venus, and very dear to her heart, the Denise K. Brooks Memorial Scholarship sponsored by HJ Norris, LLC. She has received numerous athletic offers for golf. Martey is already enrolled in college taking classes for a degree in Radiation Therapy.
