Lessons from my training: It’s been a very lesson heavy last few months, owed to my introduction to fatherhood, a few illnesses and a few injuries. (One of those things is obviously much more of a joy that the others 😄)

That said, it’s been more of a challenge than expected to put my best foot forward in training for the race that has come to mean the most to me, Mountain Mist 50K, which is coming up in 8 days. Despite that, I’ve still been able to put together a solid training block to feel a sense of readiness.

For runners, facing setbacks in training (especially for our most valued races) can be exceptionally frustrating. But at the end of the day, we must focus on what is and isn’t in our control, accept the things we cannot control, and act on the things we can.

Michael put on a pacing CLINIC in his marathon debut! Originally his goal was sub 4:22 (sub 10:00/mile pace), but as training and his fitness progressed the final goal was sub 4 hours.

Race week showed up and there was no shortage of hurdles to clear, from poor sleep the days before the race to losing headphones a few miles in. Regardless of the adversity, Michael paced his race like a veteran, executed our plan to a T despite his first time having this kind of fitness for a race and being exited to use it! He nailed the sub 4 goal, but more importantly, executed in a way that will be a foundation for strong race day mindset for his entire running career. Next up, Mountain Mist 50K 👀

“Run One of One” embodies my core value of individualization: We’ll discover what enables YOU to train effectively, consistently.

It’s beyond a weekly training schedule - mentorship, mindset guidance, and attention to details like recovery, gear, and nutrition are a part of all of my training plans.

I genuinely love helping runners achieve their goals. No goal is too big or small, and every runner deserves a good coach.

In less than a year, HL accomplished this incredible feat thanks to his hard work and a program continuously maintained to complement his fitness, life, and progress. His weekly long run went from 1 mile to 18.5 miles in this time as he built up to Mountain Mist 50K. I can’t wait to see how many hours he drops off his 50K PR at his next!
