Another IKF experience in the books. There were some really tough and technical competitors out there. Most of our crew were first timers and the nerves were real. But the only way to get to it is to GO THROUGH IT.
I love these guys and I am so freaking proud of how much they leveled up during fight camp. ❤️❤️

I can't believe I forgot to document this awesome experience here! We got to train with Duane Ludwig and Bas Rutten for over two hours of striking drills. One thing I love about is the fight IQ. The combos we practice are strategic and intentional as well as mechanically proficient.

And obviously Bas and Duane are incredibly knowledgeable and experienced, but I was pleased to find out how funny and down-to-earth they are as well. I got the sense that a life spent training is a life that keeps us healthy and humble. So I'm going to stay the course❤

We gad a great time at the IKF.❤ Point sparring isn't an accurate depiction of a street fight or a competitive full-contact kickboxing, Muay Thai or MMA fight, but it is a great opportunity for fighters and coaches to get experience. You still have to camp prep, strategize and build effective communication. You have to deal with nerves and anxiety. You have to make adjustments on site and be prepared for a little chaos. And then trade strikes with strangers. It's weird, good fun. And then you go home and work on your technique. I'm proud of our team and all the competitors that have the courage to step on the mat.

Slide one is from just a few months ago. And slide 2 is from yesterday. is making some REAL progress. More snap. More pressure. More commitment to her strikes. More reach. More core control. Better footwork. ..makes me super proud.

Just get started. Do what you can with what you have right now. And when you're unsure ask questions, get advice, or give it a go and see what happens. But don't overcomplicate things with perfect goals and high expectations.

Seriously, my first attempt at fitness was walking and jogging between mailboxes as markers when I was 19. I felt lame because that's all I could handle. But it got my heart rate up and created a basic foundation. You know what I'm doing at 38 to rebuild my conditioning? Walking, jogging, "sprinting" between mailboxes as markers. It still works!!
Just saying, get on the path and see where it takes you.
