SHSU Johnson Coliseum Johnson Coliseum, with a seating capacity of 5873 is home of Bearkat basketball and volleyball. The coliseum was opened in 1975. Johnson of Houston.

The Coliseum is home to SHSU Volleyball, Men's Basketball, and Ladykat Basketball.The Coliseum was completed in 1976 and originally called University Coliseum. The name was later changed to the Bernard G. Johnson Coliseum, in honor of long time Board of Regents member, Bernard G. The Coliseum hosts a variety of recreational sports activities, University calendar events including graduation, concer

ts, campus organization events, summer camps, family shows and special events. The building hosts a variety of events spanning over 250 days per year.
