Congrats to these guys for making our weekly honors!
Evan Barnett earned Scout Team Player of the Week for his great week of work. Evan has done a solid job all year of stepping in at whatever position we need him to fill. Evan will do whatever we ask and he’ll do it to the best of his ability. We like the progression Evan has made throughout the year and look forward to seeing that growth into the future!
For our Core Value Players of the week(s), we’d like to say congrats to Camden Johnson, Max Riley, Rydan Hill, and Dayon Williams-Sunderland for being voted by their peers or coaches for Week 9 and Week 10 since we missed last week.
Each week, a player will be nominated by their peers who represented one of the Core Values we strive to achieve throughout the week.
The core values are Family, Hornet Pride, Discipline, Tough, Energy, and Accountable.
Camden was nominated for the core value, Hornet Pride. Camden has done a fantastic job from the start of the summer and to this point of his freshmen year. Camden is a great teammate who does a great job of working to get better in the classroom and in football. He has a great attitude at practice and it has been awesome to see him development in his positions. Camden’s work ethic and determination has helped him develop and we are excited to see him continue to develop as a player and young man.
Max was nominated for the core value, Energy. Max has done a great job of bringing the juice throughout this year. At practice, Max does well at encouraging his teammates, hyping up good plays, and talks a little smack to get guys going. Max does a great job of communicating as well by asking questions and takes coaching to try and get better.
Rydan was nominated for the core value, Hornet Pride. Rydan has been challenged in multiple ways as a player and leader. Rydan’s response to being challenged has been awesome to witness. As a leader, we have seen some solid growth this year. For example, we preach all the time on doing the little things right like breaking a huddle. Throughout the year, when we havent met the standard of breaking a huddle correctly, Rydan has vocalized that it needs to be corrected and done again the right way. We love to see that as coaches and want that kind of leadership to take over by taking pride in the little things.
Lastly, Dayon was nominated for the core value, Energy. Dayon brings it everyday! In the weight room, practice, and in games. He is nothing less than 100% and we love the juice he brings on a daily basis. He also shown growth in being more vocal and challenging his teammates in a positive way. This is the kind of growth we like to see Juniors make and we are excited to see Dayon continue to grow moving forward.
Congratulations to these guys, and you will see Camden and Rydan carry our Westran Flag and American Flag when running onto the field!
