When fish are caught, held in live wells and weighed in at a boat ramp or a central location, mortality can be a real problem, especially during the warmer months starting in May and lasting through September.

But there are better waysā€¦ā€¦catch-photo-release or catch-weigh-release tournament formats allow for competition while minimizing any impacts to the fishery. These simple changes reduce unnecessary and wasteful mortality of larger, faster growing bass and ensure better bass populations for future generations.
