“Modern Budo students often forget to practice by themselves. I used to practice by myself. When there was no teacher, I found the secret teachings by my own desire.” —Soke Masaaki Hatsumi, from “Ninpo: Wisdom for Life”
Never forget that you have to take your training into your own hands. No matter what you are learning, if you always wait to be spoon-fed, you will never be more than an average student. Take initiative, study on your own, seek guidance from those whom you trust, be sincere with yourself about your flaws (as well as your virtues) and improve.
Persevere (忍), seek, and keep moving.
