🏈 Attention 1985 Winfield Generals – State Champions! 🏆

This Friday night, we’ll be recognizing the 1985 undefeated 13–0 Winfield Generals after the first quarter of the game.

Team members should meet by the gate just before the end of the first quarter. You’ll be escorted onto the field to be honored between quarters for your incredible season and Class AA State Championship victory.

We can’t wait to celebrate one of the most legendary teams ever to wear the green and white! 💚🤍

🏈 Game Week! 🏈

This Friday, Coach Smolder and the Winfield Generals welcome the Herbert Hoover Huskies to Generals Stadium!

Last season, the Generals fell on the road 29–15, and Hoover went on to finish 14–1, with their only loss coming in the championship game to some team that shall remain nameless from Harrison County.

But the 2025 Generals look sharp 💪 — showcasing a balanced offense, a strong ground game, and plenty of threats through the air. This roster is loaded with weapons!

Last week’s win pushed Coach Smolder to 24 career victories in just his 4th season, surpassing his grandfather-in-law, the late great Legendary Coach Leon McCoy's in his first four years — no doubt making him proud from above.

And here’s something special: in an era of transfers and NIL deals, Coach Smolder has built this program the Winfield way — with true Generals, not transfers from the portal.

📣 So come out this Friday and make some noise for your Winfield Generals! Let’s pack Generals Stadium and show our support for Coach Smolder and the 2025 team.

🚨 Announcement 🚨

We are proud to share that Herd Bros President Jared Turner has been selected to receive the Legion of Honor Bronze Medallion — the second highest honor recognizing extraordinary contributions to the well-being of others on the state, regional, and national levels.

Jared, a 1990 graduate of Winfield High School, was a member of the ’87, ’88, and ’89 Winfield Generals Football teams. He has also been giving back to the community by volunteering his time to restore and share old Winfield game films that so many of us have enjoyed watching!

He was nominated and chosen for:
✅ His distinguished career in law enforcement
✅ His multiple years of service in Iraq
✅ His servant leadership in developing and guiding the Herd Bros

He is only the 7th West Virginian since 1948 to receive this incredible honor!

Jared will be presented the award during the Marshall vs. EKU game on September 13th.
