The Future Stars Development Lab is designed to help young athletes build a strong foundation in basketball through skill development, confidence building, and game understanding.

Where Small Players Make Big Plays

Think you need height to shine on the court? Think again. Selected Game flips the script on traditional basketball, showcasing a new level of skill, speed, and strategy — all played under the rim.

Game Rules:

All players must be 5'1" or shorter

Hoops are lowered to 8'6" to match the style and form of smaller athletes

Fast-paced, high-energy matchups where talent—not height—takes the spotlight

SBU-Long Island IS GEARED TOWARDS SMALLER PLAYERS, CONCENTRATING ON BALL HANDLING AND FUNDAMENTALS. WE MAINTAIN HEIGHT LIMITS OF 4'11" FOR ROOKIES AND 5'1" FOR VARSITY PLAYERS. RIMS ARE SET AT 8'6", ALLOWING OUR PLAYERS TO LEARN PROPER SHOOTING TECHNIQUES. WE BALANCE SKILL-BUILDING & COMPETITION BY USING A QUARTER TEAM APPROACH WHERE ALL PLAYERS GET TIME IN THE FIRST HALF, WHILE THE SECOND HALF ROTATION IS AT THE COACH’S DISCRETION. AS A COMBINED RESULT, THE PACE AND PHYSICALITY OF SBU IS SECOND TO NONE.
