Yesterday I taught a private class for a salon in NYC and

We spent the day breaking down my Slice & Smudge foiling system.

Just a smarter way to foil.

Halfway through the class one of the stylists looked at me and said:

"You just saved me 45 minutes per appointment."

And I was like...

YES.

That's literally the point.

Because saving 45 minutes isn't really about saving 45 minutes.

It's about getting home earlier.

It's about fitting another high-ticket client into your day if you want to.

It's about making more money without adding more hours.

It's about stopping the cycle of spending 4+ hours behind the chair just to create a beautiful blonde.

The goal has never been to do more work.

The goal is to get the same result in less time.

Most blondes do NOT need 4 hours of babylights.

I can get a brighter result, and finish in a fraction of the time using Slices.
I'm strategically placing brightness where your eye actually sees it.

The goal is beautiful hair.

I'm sorry........

I know somebody taught the beauty industry that a referral program should look like:

"Refer a friend and get $15 off."

Your clients are not referring people because they want a discount.

They're referring people because they love you.

Because they trust you.

Because they want to be the person who says:

"Oh my God, you HAVE to go see my hairstylist."

And if you want more referrals, stop treating it like a coupon campaign and start treating it like a conversation.

Not:

"Here's a referral card if you know anybody."

That has the same energy as throwing a message in a bottle into the ocean.

Try:

"I'm so happy you love your hair. Who else do you know that would love this experience too?"

Crazy concept, but asking for referrals tends to work better than silently hoping for them.

If your books are sold out for the next 3 months, that’s not the flex you think it is.

I know stylists love posting “fully booked until October” like it’s a badge of honor.

But if people can book you 3 months from now without hesitation, your prices are probably too low.

Because when demand goes up, prices should too.

Higher prices create space.
Space creates flexibility.
Flexibility creates a business that actually serves YOU.

If every appointment on your calendar disappeared tomorrow, would you rebook them all at your current prices?

If the answer is no, it’s time.

I don’t do babylights!!!!

Not because I can’t……

Because I can get a better result in half the time.

My clients aren’t paying me to sit in my chair for 6 hours.

They’re paying me to get them the result they want.

So while some stylists are still weaving 4,000 microscopic hairs and calling it luxury, I prefer working less, and giving my clients their afternoon back.

The goal is to create the best outcome.
Fast means skilled.

And skill should cost more, not less.
