LVMPD Remembers...

Officer David Lee VanBuskirk joined the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department on October 6, 1999 and served in both Patrol and Narcotics until February 24, 2007 when he was assigned to Metro’s Search and Rescue Section.

A Southern Nevada native, Officer VanBuskirk was both a loyal and caring friend and an eager mentor to all he knew. As a Search and Rescue Officer he was recognized as a true hero, saving numerous lives during the hundreds of rescues he performed.

On July 22, 2013 while conducting a helicopter rescue of a stranded hiker on Mount Charleston Officer VanBuskirk fell to his death. His last action was to secure the hiker to the helicopter’s hoist cable, saving the man’s life.

Officer VanBuskirk was 36 and is survived by his wife, his mother and an extended family.

The college parking lot is PERMIT ONLY and the ALL DAY PARKING RATE on Sundays is $5.00 per vehicle. To park, you have to purchase a parking ticket at the parking kiosks.....and yes, unfortunately, sometimes they don't work!! We know that can be a problem and a little bit of a hassle to look for another kiosk, walk to the kiosk (sometimes far, and SCC is on a hilly landscape), get in line, etc...etc.... and then have to walk all the way over to your car so you can place the ticket on the dashboard!!

You can pre-purchase your parking ticket now, here, when you sign up!! Wooh! Easy, fast and most importantly, like many of our Brave procedures... HASSLE-FREE! Once you arrive at the tournament venue, your parking ticket will be ready for pickup! Super convenient huh?! Hope you take advantage of it! Enjoy!!
