Slugginmoose.com A Showcase of our Hitters
Offering individual & group hitting lessons for both baseball and softball

Slugginmoose.com teaches rotational hitting techniques to young ball players in Central Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Maryland from the ages of 9 to 40 (yes, we did have one 40 year old “kid” come for lessons). We are located in Hummelstown, PA, just outside of Hershey and within a 5 minute drive of Hershey Park. We've been teaching since 2004, so we have quite a few lessons under our belt.

A couple of Lower Dauphin girls are also off to good starts. Carissa Wenner ( junior) hit one off the top of the fence, then made an altitude adjustment and went yard in her next at bat, and Sadie Borrelli (sophomore at Lower Dauphin) kept things going with a couple of doubles (This line drive just didn’t have enough lift on it). Not a bad start to the season!

This was opening week for high school softball/baseball , and some of my players are off to pretty good starts. Caitlin Sekelski (Senior Wilkes-barre) started the season off with a couple of hits in the opener, then showed serious power with a double and 2 homeruns and a double in the second game. Got the game ball!

A Big (belated) Congratulations to Sammie Gallick on committing to Misericordia University. A harder worker and a better teammate you will not find (just had to include here her LD teammates and practice buddies Carissa (P)and Katie (SS) on the picture). When Sammie is going good, she's really good. I remember one stretch when she had 7 hits in 8 ABs over 2 games. Talk about tough, I've seen her get trucked making a play at home and bounce right back up looking for the next play. Heroes are made in practice and Sammie's work ethic there shows up in games. This is a kid who wants to be in the batter's box with the game on the line and has produced more than her share of game winners on both sides of the ball. Again, congrats Sammie, and here's to a GREAT senior year and 4 great years of softball at MIZ!

STINGER UNITED 2026 - THANK YOU ALL FOR PRIVILEGE OF SHARING YOUR SEASON!
I haven't posted in a while, mostly because I've been busy with these guys. What a great group! We started a little slow, getting used to each other, but finished strong at 17-7-2, going deep in a couple of events. What an excellent hitting team, with 3 guys over .400 and 2 .380 or better with a ton of extra base hits against some pretty tough pitching. Guys were also tough on the base paths with over 50 bags swiped and a 92% success rate. Our offence was never out of a game. AWESOME SUMMER!

Katie Strawser went out in style yesterday with this 2 run dinger to right center in her last at bat as a high school softball player. Earlier in the game she singles up the middle for her 100th hit and flashed some leather at shortstop showing why she should be 1st team all Conference at that position. Katie finished the year hitting .500. Congrats on a stellar softball career! Gonna' miss those Wednesday hitting sessions (the line drives that somehow miss the L screen and get me, not so much). Katie is on to Penn State where she will play field hockey for the Nittany Lions

Carissa Wenner homers on back to back nights and Katie Strawser joins the party. Here's a couple happy softball players. Carissa's was a bomb to straight away center field, Katie chose to line hers over the left field fence. These girls really work on their hitting, getting me on the field after practice some nights until it's too dark to see. Hard work pays off. Oh and that 3rd picture, a touch of vanity, I couldn't resist the offer to pose with Carissa after her 1st home run.

There are some kids you just want to see in the batter's box with the game on the line. Carissa Wenner ( Lower Dauphin, 2026 uncommitted) is one of them. Her team down by 3 to rival Hershey, bottom 6, 1 out, runners on the corners, and she blasts this moon shot 240' over the left center field fence. BANG! Tie Game! Now that's how you hit a low pitch, back knee almost touching the ground.
Next inning, Katies Strawser singles, Sammie Gallick (2025 catcher, uncommitted) doubles with a laser down the left field line, and they are set up for the game winner on a sac fly (nice job Jules). Couldn't be prouder of those girls.

Lower Dauphin's Sammie Gallick got all of this high inside fastball as she drilled this double down the line for a double vs rival Hershey. A little more elevation and it's gone. Sammie went 5-5 with a couple of doubles on the night. Carissa Wenner was 3-5 (sorry Carissa, no vid) with 3 RBI's and Lila Markowitz had a nice line drive to left. I had girls on both sides in this one (rooting for players, not teams here), and from the Hershey side, Tali Kaag was 2-3 and Lydia Perry 1-1 with a gap double. Overall, my girls were 12-18. These ladies produce runs!

Joey Morton is back at it! Here's 2 swings on 2 different pitches, one fastball in and one breaking ball outer half, same result. Home runs over the left field wall. Joey's off to a great start. After 6 games, he's hitting .545 with 3 HR, 17 RBIs. Stay hot!!!

I don't usually post practice sessions, but sometimes a kid does so well she just deserves a mention. Here's Carissa Wenner (sophomore, Lower Dauphin, PA) absolutely raking during our BP session. We started with the punching bag, working on how to hit the low pitch, and progressed to various locations, mostly down and in and down and away. Carissa was consistently at least 5 out of 6 (I always do 6 in a set) line drives. She sent me this montage that shows how truly impressive. Atta' girl Carrisa! The way this kid works, I'm expecting great things come spring season.

Lefty on lefty, no problem for Tali Kaag. Tali unloaded on this high fastball and launched it way over the left field fence. It literally landed in the seats (hit someone's chair). What I like about this one is how well she loads (that nice coil into her back leg) before she cuts loose on it. Nice rhythm, nice load and nice explosion into the ball. Everything in sequence. GREAT job Tali!!!!!

COMMITTED! I wanted to throw out an "Atta Boy" to the top two hitters on the Stinger 2024 team. Congrats to Will Oats and Garrett Worth on extending your baseball careers into college.
Will (hit over .400, OBP over .500 this summer) committed to D1 Merrimack. Will made some adjustments to his swing over the winter and really came alive this season.Hard work will to that.
Garrett (hit close to .400 with power, OBP around .500) committed to Penn State Mt. Alto. I've known Garrett since he was about 8 when he started coming to our clinics at Ft. Ritchie. Tireless worker, always willing to make adjustments, and he really blossomed this Spring and Summer. Canon arm, plus speed and all around great kid.
I've featured both of these guys earlier on these pages for both defensive and offensive accomplishments.
GOOD LUCK GUYS!!!!
