Good morning football fans! We had a great turn out this past Saturday for the first player evaluation day. As a reminder, this coming Saturday, August 22nd, will be the second and final evaluation day. If you did not make it to the first one, you absolutely must make it to the second one if you want your kiddo to play this year. Also, if you did make it to the first one, you do not need to come to the second one. We look forward to seeing many of you there Saturday and don't forget you can register ahead of time on our website!

Our goals are to teach the children in our charge how to play football safely, how to love sports, how to work together as a team for a common goal, and how to appreciate the effort that goes into a hard earned WIN!

Good morning everyone! Just one more reminder that the first player evaluation day is tomorrow starting at 8am. We will be going till 10am or until we get each player fully evaluated. For the best showing tomorrow, players should show up with the following:
- Cleats
- Light and breathable clothing such as shorts and t-shirt
- A cold drink such as Gatorade or water
- While not strictly needed for evaluation, if your kiddo wants to play wearing gloves it is best for them to do the evaluation wearing them.

If you have not already registered on-line, please be prepared to make the payment tomorrow with cash, check, or PayPal.

Good morning everyone. Just a reminder that the first evaluation day for players is this weekend, August 15th at the Hughes Springs Junior High football practice field (located behind the highschool). Evaluations will start at 8am and go until 10am or until all players present have been evaluated. In the interest of getting everyone done before it gets to hot, please try to make arrangements to show up as early as possible.

Good morning everyone. There have been a couple of great questions recently so we want to go ahead and address them with everyone.

Q: Do we have to come to or participate in the player evaluation?
A: Yes. Player evaluations are required. We do these to help balancing the teams of each age group. This league focuses on learning the sport first, having wildly unbalanced teams makes this very difficult.

Q: Do we need to be at both player evaluations?
A: No. You can choose whichever day works best for you, though we encourage everyone to show up as early as possible to try to avoid the heat.

Q: What are we required to provide?
A: Players/parents will need to provide grass football cleats, a mouthpiece or mouthguard, appropriate practice clothes, and shorts for game days. The league provides protective headgear and one jersey/shirt for game days as part of the registration fee.

Q: Can we use baseball cleats?
A: No. Baseball cleats often have metal spikes, where football cleats have rubber or plastic spikes. Out of an abundance of caution for player safety, no player wearing metal spikes will be allowed to practice or play. Baseball cleats and football cleats are also designed to function differently with football cleats being heavier and taller to provide better ankle support and protection from damage, like being stepped on.

REGISTRATION FOR THE 2026 SEASON IS NOW OPEN!

You can choose to register players and/or volunteers. While online registration is not required, we do encourage everyone to take advantage of it to save time at the skill evaluation days, though paper registration will still be available at both.

Registration for players will close immediately following the second skill evaluation day.

This season features three divisions with fixed matchups, creating exciting rivalries that fans can follow week after week. Each game is a chapter in a season-long story of competition.

We have seen, and appreciate, that several of you have shared our recent posts. We have asked local school districts and the Hughes Springs Chamber of Commerce to share our recent posts and this page as well.

Every year we talk to parents who did not know that the season was starting or that there was even a local option for flag football. Please take the time to share our page so we can make sure every potential player has an opportunity.

Also - - - We hope that some of you have been thinking about coaching this season. While there are several of us around the league who are happy to coach a team that doesn't include one of our own children, successful volunteer leagues have always existed with the help and support of parents, grandparents, aunts and uncles, and older siblings who are willing to spend the time to make a child's season better.
