🇺🇸 Rain couldn’t stop us! ☔

Huge shoutout to Kinsley and Paige for kicking off the Hudsonville Fair 5K with an absolutely incredible rendition of the National Anthem — soaked, smiling, and giving it everything they had. Then these two turned around and ran the race themselves, proving that a little rain is no match for community spirit!

Thank you both for showing up and showing out. You made the morning unforgettable! 💙

🎤 A big thank you to Troy Billin, Unity Christian’s Director of Development, for addressing runners at today’s Hudsonville Fair 5K!

Troy spoke on behalf of all three local school systems benefiting from this race — Unity Christian, Hudsonville Public Schools, and Jenison Public Schools — and shared just how much this event means to our students and community.

Troy also gave a heartfelt thank you to race organizer Kevin Maas for bringing this event to life, and to all of our generous sponsors, especially title sponsor Renewed Physical Therapy, whose support makes this race possible year after year.

🏃‍♂️💨 THE KICK

Ethan Barker comes out of Hughes Park in 4th place. Ahead of him: 200 meters of Green Ave, and the finish arch waiting at the end.

He can see it. And he knows exactly what he has left in the tank.

This is the same finishing speed that shattered a 42-year-old Aquinas College record back in February 2024 — his 14:42.71 in the indoor 5,000m erased a mark that had stood since 1982. The same speed that carried him to a win at this year’s Riverbank Run 5K.

So with the arch in sight, Ethan turns it on. One by one, he reels in Gabe DeYoung, former Hope College runner & current Hope XC assistant coach…../then Charles Rodeheffer, former Wittenberg Tiger & current Striders Head Coach….with an epic sprint to the finish line!

Silver medal secured. 🥈

That’s not luck. That’s a closer.
