Successful Race Day at Hudson Speedway. Car was still running like crap during our practice race and unfortunately the schedule was adjusted today so we only had one practice and no heat race so we ripped out the ABS module for the feature and she was flying. Led 11 laps until she got loose coming out of turn 2 and Quinton was able to capitalize and take the lead. If they had 20 laps instead of 15 she might have been able to catch up and retake the lead. But Quniton didn’t make any mistakes and was able to finish 1st. But very happy with a 2nd place finish and her back to being competitive on the track.

We have quite a few weeks off but might try and get some practice time in so she can get used to how fast this car is and learn how control the speed.

It’s going to be a good last race of the season on Sept 27th. Hopefully Bentley’s car is repaired by then and these kids will have one hell of a shootout!

It’s Race Day today Hudson Speedway for the #23.

Hoping we have finally found the problem and fixed Emily’s race car. It’s been a pretty troubling season tracing out these gremlins.

Have replaced every sensor, traced out the wiring looking for a bad ground or short in the wiring, replaced the transmission and cleaned all the pressure control solenoids in the transmission, replaced the fuel pump, ignition coils and spark plugs and now this week replaced the ECU.

Car ran ok yesterday but seemed to be losing power as the laps went on. Emily came home with 2nd place. The car wouldn’t stay running after the race so we heave this week to figure out what’s wrong and get back out there for Mother’s Day.

I’ve been delinquent in posting anything, but today’s the day!!! the official start to the 2026 Race Season at Hudson Speedway. Emily will be begin her 2nd Season as a Thunder Light. The year didn’t begin quite as we hoped as at the 1st Test and Tune Session she blew the motor so with the help of Shawn Souza and his stepson Jason we had to replace the motor last week just in time for this weeks race.

Hello Race Fans - The official 2025 Thunder Lights race season concluded on September 14th and unfortunately we struggled to get the car running right on our final race of the season and Emily finished in 4th place.

That isn't the most frustrating part of that as after racing all season in what we were under the impression, was a "Real Division" at Hudson Speedway, as opposed to the Hudson Heros Youth Racing Program that Emily was also a part of. The Hudson Heroes was a racing school teaching the basics of racing and how to safely navigate the track, passing, proper race line, etc. and they allowed the kids to participate in a few Sunday events to show the crowd what they had learned and have some fun.

We were under the impression that the Thunder Lights were the next step in the kids racing evolution and they had 7 races on the schedule for the season. After each race, if you logged onto the Hudson Speedway website you could click on POINTS and look at each Race Division Points Race and see where everyone was for the seasonal stats. A few weeks ago, I had a brief conversation with the General Manager, John Esburnett, about how points were calculated because quite honestly they didn't make sense to me. That's when John informed me that there were no points in the kids division, that it was a "Just for Fun, Learning Division".

I'm not here to bash the track or John, but that's not what we were led to believe and quite honestly, I'm a little pi**ed off not just for Emily but for all the kids in the program that are getting the shaft.. Emily busted her ass all season and gave up attending some b-day parties with friends and sleepovers to make sure we didn't miss a race. We busted our asses to get the car repaired when we blew the head gasket and had to fix it for another race the next Sunday.

Anyway regardless of all that...Whether the track wants to recognize it or not, their website shows the final 2025 Thunder Lights Points with Emily edging out Patrick Russell by just 4 points and as far as we're concerned is THE 2025 THUNDER LIGHTS CHAMPION!!!
(admittedly because she didn't miss a race)
