Adrienne Norton showed a strong eye at the plate on Thursday, as Norton walked four times. Even still, Sluggers Black 14u fell to Sluggers Red 15-13 at Wallen Complex Baseball And Softball.
Sluggers Black 14u fell behind by 11 runs in the seventh inning, but then tried to fight back. Sluggers Black 14u closed the gap by scoring on a hit by pitch, a single, a walk, a walk, a walk, a walk, and a single.
Sluggers Red got on the board in the top of the first inning after Jj Wehrkamp singled, scoring one run, Kaydee Speicher doubled, scoring two runs, and a passed ball scored one run.
Sluggers Red added to their early lead in the top of the second inning after Charish Osborn singled to left field, and Kyla Wall doubled up the middle, each scoring one run.
Sluggers Black 14u scored nine runs on two hits in the bottom of the seventh inning. Aria McKee was struck by a pitch, driving in a run, Sophie Westerman singled, scoring one run, Kinsey Clauss drew a walk, scoring one run, Vivian Wehrkamp drew a walk, scoring one run, Violet Engle drew a walk, scoring one run, Harmony Hubbell drew a walk, scoring one run, and Amileeya Ingram singled, scoring three runs.
Serenity Hubbell earned the win for Sluggers Red. The hurler gave up one hit and one run (zero earned) over one and two-thirds innings, striking out two and walking five. Aria Hobbs took the loss for Sluggers Black 14u. The hurler went one and one-third innings, giving up four runs (one earned) on three hits, striking out three and walking two. Engle led things off in the circle for Sluggers Black 14u. The hurler surrendered seven hits and six runs (five earned) over three innings, striking out four and walking one. Osborn started in the circle for Sluggers Red. The pitcher surrendered two hits and two runs over two innings, striking out three and walking one.
Ingram drove the middle of the lineup, leading Sluggers Black 14u with two runs batted in. The 3-hole hitter went 1-for-3 on the day. Number seven hitter, Westerman, showed the depth of Sluggers Black 14u's lineup, by leading them with two hits in two at bats. Norton led Sluggers Black 14u with four walks. Overall, the team had a strong eye at the plate, collecting 16 walks for the game. Norton stole five bases. Sluggers Black 14u ran wild on the base paths, collecting nine stolen bases for the game. Sluggers Black 14u were sure-handed in the field and didn't commit a single error. Ingram had the most chances in the field with seven.
Sluggers Red tallied 15 hits in the game. Lilliana Yoder and Pyper Moore each collected three hits for Sluggers Red. Wehrkamp, Speicher, Moore, and Osborn each drove in two runs for Sluggers Red. Avarie Petre collected two hits for Sluggers Red in two at bats. Yoder, Petre, Wehrkamp, Speicher, Wall, and Moore each stole multiple bases for Sluggers Red. Sluggers Red ran wild on the base paths, accumulating 16 stolen bases for the game.
Sluggers Black 14u will travel to Avilla for their next game on Friday.
