It combines the traditional and modern disciplines of Kenpo, Kenjutsu, Shotokan, and San Soo Kung Fu Karate . The term Zanshin means to have a correct, perfect, crystalline awareness. It is the continued state of spirit, mental alertness and physical readiness to meet an attack, to be constantly aware of one's surroundings and enemies while being prepared to react. h the samurai class of feudal Japan, it is the umbrella term for all koryu schools of Japanese swordsmanship and means the method or technique of the sword. The art of Kenpo, a japanese term translated from the chinese term Chuan fa(quanfa) which means law of the fist, has its roots trace back to the year 520 AD.

🧠 Dojo Etiquette & Philosophy
Rei – Bow / Respect
Rei is the act of bowing in martial arts and is a symbol of respect, humility, and gratitude. Practitioners bow when entering or leaving the dojo, to instructors, and to training partners. It reflects the traditional value that martial arts training begins and ends with respect.
Osu / Oss – Expression of respect and perseverance
Osu (or Oss) is a common expression used in many karate schools. It can mean β€œyes,” β€œI understand,” or show acknowledgment and respect. More deeply, it represents patience, determination, and the spirit of pushing through challenges during training.
Dojo – Training hall
The dojo is the place where martial arts training takes place. The word literally means β€œplace of the way.” It is not just a gym but a respected space for learning discipline, technique, and personal development.
Dojo Kun – Rules or guiding principles of the dojo
Dojo Kun are the moral guidelines recited or followed by students in a dojo. These principles usually focus on character development, respect, sincerity, effort, and self-control, reminding practitioners that martial arts are about building strong character as well as physical skill.
Bushido – Way of the warrior
Bushido is the ethical code historically followed by the samurai of Japan. It emphasizes virtues such as honor, loyalty, courage, integrity, and respect. Many martial arts philosophies draw inspiration from Bushido as a guide for living with discipline and honor.
Mushin – No-mind (mental clarity)
Mushin refers to a state of mind where a martial artist acts without hesitation, distraction, or overthinking. In this state, techniques flow naturally and the practitioner responds instinctively with calm awareness.
Zanshin – Remaining awareness after a technique
Zanshin is the state of continued alertness and readiness even after executing a technique. It reflects full awareness of one’s surroundings and potential threats, showing that a martial artist remains mentally present and prepared at all times. πŸ₯‹
