Last night, I went to bed—and my nervous system immediately sounded the alarm.

I suddenly realized Yoga and Wellness Day is NEXT WEEKEND, and my mind launched into a rapid-fire list of everything I hadn’t done, everything I should do and everything that could go wrong.

Three hours later, I was still awake.

By morning, I was exhausted and a little sad. I had so much planned for the day, but I already felt too depleted to enjoy any of it.

Then I took MJ for our walk.

On the way home, I decided to stop trying to think my way out of the anxiety and intentionally ground myself instead. I felt the earth beneath my feet, the cool breeze against my skin and the warmth of the sun.

Slowly, my body began to soften.

When I got home, I was able to drop into meditation. From that steadier place, I identified the few specific actions that would actually help me prepare for Yoga and Wellness Day.

The responsibilities hadn’t disappeared. I simply had more space to meet them.

Grounding helped me move out of anxious overthinking and into clear, intentional action.

Sometimes what looks like calm is actually your body bracing for the next problem. You may be functioning, planning and getting everything done—but still living as if something is about to go wrong.

You don’t have to solve everything before you can relax.

Sometimes you need to come back to yourself first. Then, from that grounded place, you can see what truly needs your attention—and what can wait.

Are you truly grounded today, or are you just surviving beautifully?

How do you encourage reflection in your life?

My greatest reflections usually happen on my morning walk but as I’ve gotten older I prioritize all my activities that encourage reflection…yoga, art, baking, sewing.

I used to think these things were just fun activities, but I realize now they are essential for my mental health, my spirituality, and my overall purpose.

Please share…what do you do? I would love to know!

This one feels especially meaningful. 💛

There are so many reasons I love teaching yoga, but if you know you know why this one is so incredibly special 💫

Yoga isn’t just about moving through poses. It’s about learning to pay attention—to your body, your breath, your patterns, your needs—and creating a practice that meets you where you are.

Knowing that someone experiences my classes as grounding, nourishing, insightful, and quietly profound means more to me than I can say.

Thank you, Wakenda, for practicing with me all these years—and for these incredibly generous words. 💛

Connection isn’t something we can force.

In yoga, we practice noticing the places where we brace, grip, protect, or hold back—and instead of demanding that they change, we get curious.

What happens if I soften here?
What happens if I breathe into this?
What happens if I loosen my grip just a little?

Sometimes the barrier is physical. Sometimes it’s emotional. Sometimes we didn’t even realize it was there.

And maybe connection doesn’t come from trying harder to open.

Maybe it comes from creating enough space to feel what’s already here.

Connection with your body.
Connection with yourself.
Connection with the people around you.
Connection with life. 🌻

This is one of the things I love most about yoga: the practice begins on the mat, but it rarely stays there.
