Cage Heat 13U Win In Fashion, Walk It Off Versus Greene County Outlaws 13U
Cage Heat 13U took Saturday's game in dramatic fashion, with a 7-6 walk-off victory over Greene County Outlaws 13U. The game was tied at six in the bottom of the eighth when Louis D doubled, scoring one run.
Vanalstyne collected three hits in four at bats in the win. Vanalstyne doubled in the second inning, singled in the first inning, and singled in the seventh inning.
Greene County Outlaws 13U got on the board in the top of the first inning after Colton K singled, Cage Heat 13U committed an error, DJ B singled, and Jackson S grounded out, each scoring one run.
In the bottom of the fourth, Cage Heat 13U broke up the tie when Braeden B started the inning with a bunt single, followed by a single by Ryan L and Enzo L drew a walk, scoring one run. Then a ground out by Vanalstyne followed to extend the lead to 6-4.
Vanalstyne led things off on the hill for the Cage Heat. He surrendered seven hits and six runs (three earned) over five and two-thirds innings, striking out seven and walking two. Alek P opened the game for Greene County Outlaws 13U. The starting pitcher gave up nine hits and six runs (five earned) over seven innings, striking out four and walking three. Louis pitched two and one-third innings of shutout ball for the Heat 13U in relief. He allowed zero hits, striking out one and walking none.
Louis provided pop in the middle of the lineup, and led Cage Heat with three runs batted in. The right-handed hitter went 2-for-3 on the day. Louis, Ryan L, Liam C, and Vanalstyne each stole multiple bases. Cage Heat ran wild on the base paths, tallying 12 stolen bases for the game. In the 6th inning the Cage Heat turned a key double play to stop the Outlaws from threatening.
The Heat continue tournament play on Sunday 7/21 when they take on Frozen Ropes at 1230 pm at Bob Moore field in Scotia.
