Paula Forman is honest. And resilient. The only reason there's a waitlist for the 9am class is because she's there; people wanna be beside her. She has taken the same classes for YEARS because it's medicine and because it's two blocks away from her house. Just like her home, her former career, her philanthropic organization Perfect Ten, her family, her friends and her magnificent garden-- she knows how to find the sweet spot, how to take responsibility, how to reflect, how to be useful, how to be curious and how to truly care. She's been supporting teen girls in Hudson for years and honestly it's work. I look to Brad Stulberg again and his interviews with hundreds of Olympians, award winning artists, chefs and musicians in his quest to research greatness.
"Most common traits underlying greatness: Heartfelt dedication and growth. Excellence, health and mastery are not one time things that you accomplish, they are values that guide a path. It is a path that takes time, energy, and intention to walk, but one that's worth the effort. You can have all the talent in the world but it doesn't matter if you don't care. It's easier not to care-- that way if you come up short, you have an excuse. But the best performances live on the other side of ego and fear. Don't hold back. Have the courage to care. Excellence is caring deeply and paying attention -- which is to say it's a lot like love." 📸 by Shannon Greer
