🏆 State Trap Championship Recap 🏆
The Wisconsin State Trap Championship is in the books!
This year’s tournament brought together nearly 100 teams and almost 2,000 athletes, from Rookie through Collegiate divisions, making it one of the largest shooting sports events in the state.
Mother Nature made sure the competition wouldn’t be easy. Shooters battled challenging winds on both Friday and Saturday while managing the nerves that naturally come with championship competition. Despite the conditions, we saw personal bests achieved, multiple perfect rounds broken, and several athletes earn their first Perfect Round patches.
One of the highlights of the weekend came from our Rookie squad. Competing against 31 other teams, they battled their way to a Runner-Up finish and brought home another trophy for the Raider collection.
Congratulations to Brett, Calvin, Lucas, Levi, and Jack on an outstanding accomplishment! Levi will return as a Rookie next season, while the other four athletes move up to Intermediate Entry.
Across all divisions, the Raiders recorded numerous Top 10 individual finishes and several strong squad performances. While not every squad found its way onto the podium, there were plenty of results worth celebrating:
• Intermediate Entry finished 14th out of 70 teams
• JV finished 8th out of 89 teams
• Varsity finished 20th out of 90 teams
Perhaps the toughest moment of the weekend came in Intermediate Advanced. A squad that had been among the top squads all season finished 4th, missing a podium spot by a single bird. The deciding score came from our division rivals, Osceola, as the final scores were posted on Sunday. We extend our congratulations to them. It’s been a back-and-forth battle all season, and they are humble competitors. If we were going to get edged out by anyone, we’re glad it was them. Our squad finished just two birds out of 2nd place and six birds out of 1st, a testament to just how competitive and tightly contested the division was this year.
As you review the results reel, you’ll notice two combined-score categories:
• HAA (High All Around) combines scores from State Trap, State S***t, and State Sporting Clays.
• HOA (High Overall) combines scores from Trap, Doubles Trap, and Handicap Trap competed this weekend.

We’re not finished yet. This weekend, our International Trap and International S***t squads take the line for the final State Championship of the season. After that, all focus turns toward Nationals in July as we prepare to represent Raider Nation on the national stage.
