Michigan DNR in 2025. Recently at its October meeting, the Natural Resource Commission proposed changes to Fisheries Order 206 impacting the bass seasons on Black, Burt, Mullett, Crooked and Pickerel lakes in Cheboygan and Emmit counties. These changes would affect future bass fishing opportunities on these waters in the following ways:
Catch and Immediate Release fishing for bass on Black Lake, Burt Lake, Mullett Lake, Crooked Lake and Pickerel Lake including all connecting waters would be closed from May 1 β the Friday before the third Saturday in June; and
The bass possession season on Black Lake, Burt Lake, Mullett Lake, Crooked Lake and Pickerel Lake including all connecting waters would be from the third Saturday in June -December 31, inclusive.
These changes would remove bass fishing opportunities (including tournament fishing) on these waters from May 1st through the Friday before the third Saturday in June.
In the attached proposed order, you will find those changes highlighted in yellow.
