I promised I would always share my journey with you all; win, lose, or draw. This is a weird one, I felt as prepared as I have ever been. However, my opponent also hit me with a few knees to the thigh almost immediately that affected my mobility. I knew before this fight my clinch needed some work, and this just confirmed it. We all have strengths and weaknesses; great job of my opponent exposing mine. I was ready, willing, and eager to go to war that day… I was ready to bleed, fall, & lose an eye… (one leg too.) Again, though, credit to my opponent; it’s always that things you don’t expect that get you. I wish I got to throw a bit more, it’s up to me to get back in the lab to ensure I always have the opportunity to let my hands fly.
At this point in my life I am a coach as much as I am an athlete, so i share my journey with others so that you all can have an example of both the good and the bad. The most important message I can give you all is nothing is impossible, absolutely nothing. When I was 17 years old they told me I would never run again… boy were they wrong! I can run, i can jump, I can fight! I remember when I first started kicking the bag it would send a vibration from my legs all the way through my body due to the minor fractures that still remained.. I remember when every i kick i threw the thought of Anderson Silva & Conor McGregor’s leg would pop in my head, because it was an actual possibility. Xavier asked to do 5 rounds with no shin guards and I actually contemplated it.. he probably would have destroyed my legs but I hope you all hear the progression that I’m thankful for.
I have taken a lot of time away from athletics due to injuries and COVID, but i made myself a promise. I promised I would be a professional athlete from 28 - 35 yrs old. “The Prime Years.” I’m 27 now and I’m just back to getting my feet wet. I need: go down weight, think about Lasik, & rehab my posterior chain. For anyone still with me on this journey, follow along as I heal my body, strengthen my mind, and continue to achieve my full potential. “I’m old.” But I’m also experienced in ways that only God understands, Watch What Comes Next!
